He is there, amen? Amen. Hallelujah. Well, if you have
your Bibles this morning, I believe this crowd does. Let's go to Proverbs, amen? The
Lord's changing my message here this morning. Let's go to Proverbs,
chapter number 3, verse 5 and verse 6. And if I have taught
you at any length, anybody here this week, you know exactly the
verses I'm about to read. But look at Proverbs, chapter
number 3, verse 5 and 6. I want you to get there. Let's
all stand. We'll read. We'll pray. Ask God
for His help. We're going to trust Him. The
Bible says in Proverbs, chapter 3, verse 5, and verse number
6. As a matter of fact, let's read verse 1 first. The Bible
says, the writer says, My son, forget not my law, but let thine
heart keep my commandments. For length of days and long life
and peace shall they add to thee. Let not mercy and truth forsake
thee. Bind them about thy neck. Write
them upon the table of thine heart. So shall thou find favor
and good understanding in the sight of God and men. Here's
our two text verses. Trust in the Lord with all thine
heart. Lean not unto thine own understanding,
and all thy ways Acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths
He says trust lay not He shall direct. I Just want to talk tonight
on I guess about the title this simply trust father help us Lord
you you you you're making some terms here and I'm gonna follow
you and so I'm right behind you I pray that's not but you take
your word right now, which we are have just read and I pray
God should take this word and feed our hearts. I pray God,
like we talked about last week, if we are going to be, oh yeah,
oh yeah, giant Christians, then we must, yeah, hunger for your
word. We must desire the sincere milk
of the word that we may grow thereby. It's the word, hallelujah,
that helps us. It's the word that gives us strength. It's the Word that opens up our
eyes to see a little bit more clearer than what we have seen.
It's the Word that helps our minds to be flushed out. It's
the Word that tenders and also softens, but yet strengthens
our heart. And I pray God to take this Word
and feed your people this morning. And Father, if there be somebody
here today that has not received Christ, hallelujah, has not received
trust as Lord and Savior, Lord, let this be the day when they'll
step from the losing side to the winning side by receiving
Jesus as Lord, Savior, and King. And I pray, God, that you'd help
us to fight off the onslaught of the enemy. As he attacks our
minds and attacks our emotions, I pray, God, you'd be our shield
and you'd, yeah, be our buckler. And for that, God, we'll praise
you. And then, God, whatever else we have in the air today,
That we don't even know. Yeah, we don't even know about.
I pray God to supply that mighty need today, and we all shall
praise you. God, these are your people, and
they've come to worship, but they've also come to be fed.
Help us. Force your sons and me to pray.
One more thing. If there's anything at all, no matter how small or
how minute, that would hinder you from using my vessel this
morning. I beg you in the name of your
son, Jesus, to clean this old vessel, scrub it down real good,
fill me up with the Holy Spirit, and let your words flow off my
lips, and then enter into the ears and the hearts of those
who are listening. And we'll thank you. That's it,
Father. For it's your son's name we ask and pray, Jesus. Amen. Amen. May be seated. The Bible
says trust. And the Lord, with all thine
heart, lean not unto thine own understanding, and all thy ways
acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." God's Word
is true. God's Word is also sure. But also, folks, life itself,
though, is not so sure. But we do have something that
we can lean on, we have something that we can rely on, and that
is God's Word. Many of us, as we were young
men growing up, our fathers would tell us that your Word is what?
Is your bond. If a person cannot trust your
Word, that person cannot trust you. If you say you're going
to do something, do it. Because if not, then your word
does not mean a whole lot. That's why there was a time in
this country when if somebody wanted to borrow some money from
even a bank or some other institution, all they had to do was walk in
there, my dear friends, and just simply give them their word. They'd pay them back. That was
enough. But time has gone by, and the
word don't mean much at all today. But there is one word that does
mean much, and that's God's word. God's Word does not lie. God's
Word does not back up. But God's Word does give us strength
to fight the battles that we face from day to day. That's
why the enemy fights us so much to read the Word. The Bible says
here, my friends, that we are to trust in the Lord with all
thine heart. That's the first thing it says.
I want you to trust me. If you can't trust nobody else,
he says, trust me. When you can't trust your mama,
when you can't trust your daddy, when you can't trust yourself,
God says, hey, baby, trust. Woo! Trust me. I'm about to have
a fit. This is my difference. God's
word will stir your heart up. God's word will give you what
you need to have from day. I love his word. But more than
that, I'm glad. His word loves us. Amen. It was
by his word we were birthed and we were even conceived. by God's
Word. It's His Word that spoke things
into existence. That's why He says, you can trust
My Word. He says, trust here in the Lord
with all thine heart. That means, my dear friends,
with all your feelings, all your emotions. He says, trust the
Lord. Put your confidence in Him. Not in yourself, but put
your confidence and your trust in the Lord. Why? Because there's some things you
and I just don't understand. The Bible says, next portion
of Scripture, and lean not Earn to thine own understanding. Trust
the Lord. Lean not. Don't rely on your
own understanding, your own wisdom. Because your own wisdom can't
figure it out. We talked about it a little bit yesterday in
our men's meeting. And some of you individuals here today. If
we try to figure, for example, I think about Ms. Lashondra.
Because she had Carson for 11 years. Times 7 would be 77 years
that Carson would be a dog life. And he was her friend, he was
her pet, he was her eyes, he helped her, but yet he got old. And as he got old, his body began
to have problems on the inside. And so then this past Thursday,
Thursday morning, she had to put Carson to sleep. And that
was a hard thing to do, a difficult thing to do. And I'm sure there's
times she's wondering, I don't understand why, why? Now some
of us can rationalize as well. I mean, Carson's old. He's been
here a long time. That's fine. But my dear friends, there's
a lot of things that you and I still can't figure out. You know, it
might seem like that makes sense, but some things just don't make
sense. Why is it? We were talking, and I believe
it was in a men's meeting, about how this one guy was in an airplane,
and there was a whole bunch of other folks in that same airplane.
The airplane was going down, and they were trying their best
to save all those lives on the airplane, and as they got down
to the ground, the plane was crashing. One of the guys ran
to the back, and as he got to the back, he jumped out, and
you know what he did? He landed on the ground, but everybody
else on the airplane was killed. They all died. Except for that
one man. They said it was just last week,
the guy that hit the parachute, jumped out of the airplane on
the parachute, and the parachute didn't work. And he lived. I'm like, what? How can somebody jump out of
an airplane, they're coming down, the parachute doesn't work, and
now he's here. I can't understand that. I can
trust that God has some other plans apparently for that man,
because he's still here. Of all things happen in our life
which we do not understand, we can't comprehend, no matter how
much we try to add, subtract, divide, multiply, I don't care
how much we go through the books and try to search, we still can't
figure it out, but the Bible says don't try to figure it out,
just simply trust me. Just trust me. When you don't understand,
just simply trust me. When it doesn't make sense, just
simply trust me. How does that take place? The
Bible says believe. Yeah, but I don't understand.
But give me a pointer. Give me a, give me, no matter
how much I got, it's still a mystery. It's still a mystery. It's amazing.
And that's the kind of God that we have. We have an amazing God. But our God says, hey, I want
you to trust me. Don't rely, don't lean, don't
depend on your own understanding. For example, if I was to ask
Brett to come up here Go from there, Brett. I asked Brett to stand up here,
and I'm going to catch him. You jump, and I'm going to catch
him. What's your wifey know for? Was that a sign of unbelief I just
saw? I said, no, I mean, Brett, he was priming. He said, I don't
know. You really want me to do that,
do you, preacher? What do you think? You're right, because I don't
believe it. Amen. I don't know if you ever seen it. Amen. But I'll tell
you what, if I believed it, I could text him. I'd say, hey, go ahead
and jump. Oh, but that boy's getting thicker and thicker as
the days go by. But nonetheless, though, hey, my dear friends,
but listen, that's what God sometimes calls us to do. Something, my
dear friends, that we don't understand that'll blow our mind, but God
says do it. God calls a person to the mission field. He says,
well, how are we going to get there? How's that going to work out?
God does it, and souls are saved. Lives are changed. Last night,
Brother Bill Page went down to the girls' prison, down there,
and 20 young ladies received the Lord Jesus Christ as their
Savior. Look at that! That swells up
the devil's eye! Amen! Hallelujah! But do you
know that he barely gets there? Because they hardly have gas,
it's hard to get there, it's hard to get back. But he does
it. And when he goes, folks get saved. Folks, that's amazing. But that's what it means to trust
the Lord. Even when it doesn't make sense,
I'm going to still trust them. When I don't understand, I'm
going to still trust them. When God called us to come up
here back in 1994, we came in 1995. We came up here, friends.
I only had like 10% support. But I knew God called us to come
up to this area, and we came. And then even while we hit the
church, There's times we had some rough times. We had some
rough spots. We had some hiccups in the road. But you know what?
We're tempered on serving God, tempered on being faithful to
Him, tempered on being faithful to His promises. And I look out here
in this audience today, I see many of you who trusted Christ
as their Savior as a result of us just staying here, being faithful
to God's call. Listen, my dear friends, hey, when God says do
it, just do it, amen? Just hold on, and you'll see
great results in the end, my friends. I think about Priscilla. when she trusted Christ as her
Savior on her 21st birthday. She's back in the back. This
is Ms. Sue. When she turned 21 on that Sunday, which is our
homecoming Sunday, by the way, and she got saved on that Sunday.
And how about you now, right now, Priscilla? 27. That was
six years ago. She trusted Christ as her Savior.
But do you know what? What if, what if, number one,
Brother Ed Moore had never decided to come up here to Gary DeAnna
and leave North Carolina, because he wouldn't have found the Sunrise
Church. What if he said, no, I'm not going up there? I mean,
guess what? There probably would not be a
Sunrise Church. What if, my dear friends, when
we came up here and Brother Ed Moore and Brother Bill Hayes
said, hey, what about merging Sunrise and The Lighthouse? Our
work was called The Lighthouse. What about merging these two
works together? What if I said, nah, that's okay. I don't think
so. We're just going to do something different. I'm going to tell
you folks, the outcome will be a whole lot different than what it is
today. But I'm going to tell you what, my dear friends, even
when, and even though I was appalled, I'm like, man, that don't make
sense. I mean, I'm trying to do this and they got this going
on here, but I didn't know this. God said do it. I didn't understand
the time, but I do what God said to do it. And there was a time,
my dear friends, when I, myself, I wanted to quit. I wanted to
walk away. And I could hear Ray Charles sing that song. Georgia,
Georgia. Hey, folks, I lived in Georgia
for nine years. And I tell you what, I mean,
I was enjoying living for God, having a great time. And there
were times I'd hear him sing that song, just come on back.
It's an old, sweet song. I mean, I could, anyhow. But
you know what? I couldn't do it. Why could I
not do it? Because God didn't say do it.
All I knew was God said be still. And even though I was still,
and I was ridiculed, talked about, lied to, all kind of things,
but my friends, I still was just still because I was trusting
a holy God, a real God, a God, my friends, who never, never
lets me down. Folks, our God will never lie
to us, and he will never let us down. But then he would do
his best to try to confuse us, to get our thoughts in the wrong
place, in the wrong direction. Why look at these young men?
Right here, Teran, Mikael, Isaiah, and Demar, you're still kind
of young. Demar, now I look over here at,
oh man, it's coming to me. This is me. Taylor. I look at Taylor, and I look
at Taylor's brother, and then I look at Josh, and I look at
some of these other young... Do you know what, my dear friends?
Don't you think the enemy wants them? He wants them, and he'll
do his best to get them distracted. I mean, Terrance, you ready to
go to the Air Force or Navy? Navy. The boy's gonna have a
uniform. And when he'll come home after
training with his uniform on, what do you think them girls
are gonna be doing? Mama said, they own them now.
I'm like, boy, you looking good. And they be like, let me see
your bicep. Well, you got a tricep, too. Buy and a try. And if you're
not careful, that's why I try to pull them in a different direction.
Because maybe somebody who knows nothing about God, don't love
God, don't care about God, but he'll be looking at her going,
but man, she fine. I mean, she's smart. Don't be praying. I think
she'll be praying and then having some target practice, too. But
do you know what? They're even going to try his
best to get him on the wrong track. What was he going to do?
He has to make choices. He has to make decisions. That's
why it's so important that all that he's been taught since he's
been going here, since he was, what, 10 years old? As he was 10 years
old, he's been going here. There's a lot of things that
he has heard, priest. A lot of things that he has read himself in God's
Word. There's a lot of testimony that
he's heard. My dear friends, we've got a God that's going
to bring all those things back to his mind. He's going to do
that. And while he's bringing all these things back to his
mind, it's still going to be up to him, though, to make that
choice and that decision to follow a holy God. And my friends, sometimes
it's not going to make sense, but he's got to make the decision,
hey, I'm going to trust God. I'm not going to follow the world.
I'm going to trust Jesus. Woo! Hallelujah. When the world
comes against you, trust Jesus. When your friends talk about
you, trust Jesus. When they try to get you off
the wrong path, down the wrong road, trust Jesus. When they
laugh at you and ridicule you, trust Jesus. When you're doing
that for God and that doesn't make sense to them, you still
trust Jesus. Why do you trust him? Like it
says right here. The Bible says here, trust in the Lord with
all thine heart, and lean not into thine own understanding,
And he says, in all thy ways, acknowledge him. That word, ways,
means your road, your path, your course of life. And all your
doings, all your paths, all your course of life, all your whole
road, make sure you acknowledge him. That means know him. How
many of you know Michael Jordan? OK. Have you ever heard of Michael
Jordan? That's a little bit more honesty
there. All of us have heard of him. But we don't know him. What do
you mean you don't know him? I know his name. I know where
he was born at. I know where his mama was, his daddy was. I know
how much he scored. You still don't know Michael
Jordan. You don't know him. You think you know him. But see,
when you really know a person, You can look at them and tell.
Like husband and wife. How long y'all been married now? Rachel. Seven years. She smiles. She's like, please leave us alone.
We're happy and we love each other. Move on. But I guarantee you, I guarantee
you, there's certain things or a certain way that Rachel can
look. She ain't got to say nothing. But she can look a certain way.
And Anthony, you know, So I'm like, right. Now everybody else
around her will be like, boy, she just happy. Look at her.
She just is happy. She does all this kind of stuff. And then Anthony
will be like, man, something's wrong with her. What man? I mean,
she's happy. She's smiling and all that. What
you mean, what you talking about? Because he knows her. They've been married
for seven years. He knows her. He knows when she
has a look, and that certain look means happy, or that certain
look means sad, or that certain look means you want everybody
to leave. I mean, I mean y'all know what I'm talking about. But nonetheless my friend, that's
because you know that person. That's the same thing that God
is saying about us. He wants us to know him. Know
him in that intimate way. Know him in that close way. Not
just from a distance, that's God. But know my dear friends,
get real close to him. Do you know what? When you and
I face hard times, when you and I face difficult times, those
are the times when you really become a little bit more intimate
with God. Those are also the times, my
dear friends, when you feel His presence, perhaps like you have
never felt it before. You'll feel Him wrapping His
arms around you. You'll feel Him giving you that
peace in your heart. When you begin to cry out to God, you're
just simply... I mean, you're not coming to pray out of formality. You're not trying to say, well,
make sure I got the right words. I'm trying to say it just like
I need to say it. No, you just come to God, and if you're hurting,
you say, I'm hurting. God, I'm hurting! God, my heart's bleeding! God, I need your help! And you're
sincere. And I tell you what, my dear
friends, you'll be able to tell people how God came through in
the midst of your storm. You didn't know what to do. You
cried to a holy God, and God came by and directed your path.
God came by and gave you, my friend, some extra strength that
you didn't think you even had. I don't forget Michelle Moncello. Many of you know her. Many of
you don't know her, but you heard of her. But I remember on that
Monday morning. Well, I remember on that Sunday
night. No, it was a Sunday after morning service. One of them,
I can't remember exactly, but it was that Sunday. I've been
preaching that message on Are you drifting? And I remember
after that service Michelle was just so excited and she was like,
you know, you know, I just she felt closer to God She said I
just can't wait to see him and I just love her and she was oh
and she had some things she wanted to talk to me about and tell
me. She was just so excited when she left But I had no idea That
would be the last time that I would be able to converse with her,
have a conversation with her. That Monday morning came, we
were at the house. I remember being at the house,
the phone ringing, and them telling us that Michelle had been murdered. She was dead. She had been stabbed,
she had been set on fire, and she knew who the person was,
which of course was our cousin, and she knew his social security
number, all that stuff. Remember she she told them what
it happened with all these things and she was concerned about her
daughter once might take care of a daughter But she didn't
make it she passed off into eternity. I Remember that Monday all me
and Jolene did was this I laid on one couch And she laid on
the other and all we did was just weep that whole that week
that whole day. I And then come, I don't know
if it was on that Wednesday, we had service on Tuesday, so
it was like Wednesday or Thursday, or somewhere toward the end of
the week, we had to have our service, and I had to preach it. And for
those of you who don't know, Michelle was like a door to us.
I mean, she spent the night at our house. I mean, I helped her
to grow and develop as a Christian. I mean, we wept together. I mean,
we spent hours on the phone. I mean, she was like a door to
us. And I was asked to do the funeral service. Billy and his
family, Jack, many of you that were here then were there. And
God gave strength. I remember preaching from Joshua,
chapter number one, which was her favorite verse. And it goes
like this, Joshua chapter number one, in verse number nine, this
is what it says. In Joshua chapter number one,
in verse number nine, the Bible says this, have not I commanded
thee, be strong. And of good courage. Be not afraid,
neither be thou dismayed. For the Lord thy God is with
thee, whithersoever thou goest. That was a verse. That's what
I preached from. And I remember, my dear friends,
when we had to go through that whole situation, and I would
sit there, and I would ponder in my mind, what did I do wrong? What did I not say that I could
have said? How did I contribute? I mean, what were the signs that
I missed? I mean, all these things. And
at one point, let me tell you, I said, you know what? I wasn't
going to counsel nobody no more. I wasn't going to try to help
nobody. Because I don't know if I said something that messed
things up. I didn't know. And I was hurting. But at the same time, God came
by and gave us strength. God came by and helped our faith
muscles to begin to increase as we prayed and cried out to
Him, as we trusted Him. And you know what? I learned
a lot of things during that particular time. I got some strength that
I wouldn't have gotten if I hadn't faced what I faced during that
day. There's been some other tough times since that time,
but every tough time that we faced, it's in the midst of those
times that I began to know God in a more deeper, a more realer
way than I had before. And then you know what happens?
Then you can tell somebody else about how God will show up. When
your storm comes, God will show up, and God will show up, and
he won't show up weak, but God will show up strong! Where does it all start at? Trusting. When we're trusting. I mention
these young men here. I mean, you guys, like, where
do you live at, buddy? And Munster, of course you're
his brother, so you live in Munster. And you live in, where do you
live in? Highland? In Highland. These boys here
live in Gary. Isaiah's over in Hammond. And
who else, I can't see, another young person. Some of these other
guys. But you know what? You guys don't face stuff. But
you guys got to make decisions yourself. on whether you're going
to follow God or not follow God. And depending on what you do,
it's going to determine a lot about where you're going to go
in your life. But you've got to make those decisions. You've
got to make those choices. And we cannot, these young ladies,
these, raise your hand, teenage girls. Teenage girls. She raised
her hand. She ready to be a teenager. You
know, put your hand down. You know, there's going to be
some guys that's going to tell you the right words that you
want to hear. You know? They are. They analyze you. How
do you know? Because I was one of them. I
can analyze, you know. And they're going to tell you
what you want to hear. They're going to say what you
want to say. And the enemy is going to make
sure they look like you want them to look. They're going to
smell like you want them to smell. Their hair is going to be cut
just like you want it cut. But you've got to watch out. Because the enemy has a lot of
counterfeits that try to pull us in the wrong direction. And
we got to make a decision, who am I going to follow? I'm going
to follow God. We've got to follow God. Adults, young adults, older
adults, same thing goes for all of us, my dear friends. Hey,
folks that are hooked on drugs and folks that are hooked on
gambling, folks who are hooked on other types of vices. My dear
friends, these things that everyone wants to use to destroy our lives.
But at some point, somebody got to say, listen, I'm tired of
this. I want to trust somebody. I'm not going to trust myself.
I'm going to trust my God. I'm going to trust Jesus. Woo! Hallelujah. He's the one that
unshackles us and sets us free. He gives us hope when it seems
like there is no hope available. We got a real God. Go back, go
back, go back. The Bible says, back over in
Proverbs chapter 3, trust in the Lord with part of your heart.
I'm sorry, but that's what we're doing. Part of our heart. Some
of us have a church life. Then we have a work life. We
wasn't there because of that church. But now I'm a job. Now I work
at the mill. I mean, you got to, you know,
I work over here. I work over here, son. The same
God that's in here. It's the same God that's out
there, my dear friend. The same God that's in here is
the same God that's at your school. He's the same God. He changes
not, my friend, and He's everywhere at the same time. Woo! Hallelujah. And by the way, He
don't ask you to be a Christian here and not one on the outside. I can't tell you how many times
I've been talking to friends of mine, and I'm just telling
them what the Bible says wherever, and they say this, I know, but
But not as a pastor, but as a friend. Tell me, what would you do? Oh,
OK. He's cool. He woke up as a friend. Now, I say what I do, I'm going
to go over there and whoop somebody behind. What I'm telling you,
friends, is the same thing. So whether I'm pastor or your
friend, I'm going to tell you the same exact advice. I'm not going to be double-minded.
I'm not going to be flip-flopping. Hearing that might be a difference.
It's going to always be, follow the Word! Follow the Word! Follow
the Word! Like, I'm going to tell you something
different. So what that tells me, though,
is that's how people think sometimes. Okay? This is how I should act,
but now tell me how I'm going to act. You should be. Don't act like
you should act. It's not two lives. It's one
life. It's one life. And we got to
get to a place, my dear friends. We got to get tired of being
hypocrites. I'm about done. Some of y'all
are going to be happy. Better not use the word hypocrite. Because
some of us couldn't pay somebody to go to church because of our
hypocrisy. I'll give you $100 if you come
to church, man. Why should I go to your church, and you act the
way you act? Not. I'm not coming there. My dear friends, if I want some
help, I'm going to go somewhere where I feel like somebody is
getting some help. If I was there, and I might throw
off more hospitals. But listen, if I go to St. Margaret's,
and if I felt like St. Margaret's wasn't helping me,
I'm not going to be saying, hey, y'all, let's go to St. Margaret's.
But if I go to the community, they don't help me. I say, let's
go to the community. Wherever I feel like I'm going to get some help,
that's where I'm going to go, and that's where I'm going to
recommend others to go. So guess what? Many of us have tried Jesus
over and over again, and we found Him faithful. That's why we recommend
other people to try Jesus, to trust Him. When it seems like
you need to do something else, just trust Him. When I think
about some of the folks that are here this morning, Something
tells me that just like when I think about Cory, I think about
his family being here this morning. When I think about Chad, his
family, when I think about others that are here. When I think about
Rachel, when their little baby went home to be with the Lord.
You know where she was at that Sunday? Church. When Cory came
here this morning, whether you realize it or not, there's a
lot of folks that were shocked to see you here this morning. What's Cory doing
here? But what it's telling me is, Cory, you know what? I need
to be at the church. I need to be somewhere where I can get
me some strength. I need to be somewhere where I can get me
some help. I mean, stay at the house and they're going to give
me a little help over there. I mean, God can't help me at the house,
but I tell you what, I think it would be a good idea. If I
went down to a place of prayer, the house of prayer, I think
it'd be a good idea. If I brought my family to the
house of God, I think it'd be a good idea. If we got on with
some good singing, and we got to hear the word of God that
is preached, and get some good fellowship, I believe I'd be
a lot better off. I think I'd be a lot stronger.
I think I'd be able to face things a whole lot better if I just
get to the house. When I was away from God, the
thought that came to my mind was this. If I could just get
to the church. You say, well what's stopping
you from getting there? Were they blocking my door? No.
My flesh was in my way. But I knew if I could just get
to the church. And friends, when I got to that
church, and that happened to me at Galilean Baptist Church,
when I got to that church, that man started preaching. This great
guy started tugging and tapping. My friends, my life got changed,
but I knew if I could just get to the church, something would
happen, something would change. I didn't know what was going
to happen, but I knew if I could just get to the church, something
would happen. And that's why the enemy fights
us so hard. Many of us have to struggle to get here. Many of
us were, man, we were looking at each other cross-eyed before
we got to church this morning. Trying to get here. But then
I tell you to put your clothes on before you get up this morning.
I can't find my spocket. I can't find my shoe. Where my
toothbrush at? Somebody stole my brush. What's
up, man? Where my car keys at? We got
five cars. Where are all the car keys at?
They're all missing. I know you had them last. All
kind of stuff be going on. And people are like, well, I
ain't going to church. Why would I go? We're just going to stay
at the house. That's all we're going to do, just stay at the
house. No! Hey, if you've got to get up there and hitchhike,
hitchhike, amen. Don't stay at the house, man.
I mean, get to the church. When you get here, if you have
to, slide right to the altar, because they're always open.
They're always open. Let me read this with you. The
Bible says, trust in the Lord with all thy heart. I mean, not
until I know understanding. and all thy ways acknowledge
him. And this is the last part, it says this, and he shall direct
thy paths. We get our GPSes out, because
we don't know where we're going. Somebody said, give me the address.
Put the address in there. We click the thing, and it tells
us how to get there, how many hours we're going to take. They
give us about maybe three or four different routes we can
take. But we use that GPS. to help direct our path. God
is the ultimate GPS. He wants to direct our paths.
And the path that He wants to direct us to might not always
be the fastest. How many times you get your GPS,
you always go for the fastest route. I'm going to go all the
way around to there and all the way over there. I'm going to
go this route right here. Sometimes God says, you know what, we don't
have to go the fastest route. I want you to go around here. There's
a thing that I want you to see. I want you to go through the
mountains. I'm going to show you some stuff through the mountains.
Yeah, we can step right here on I-65. No, I want you to go
around the mountains. I got something I want you to see. Because you're
going to learn some things there. But you ain't going to learn
going down I-65. There's going to be some curves
you're going to learn how to handle. But you won't be able to handle
if you stay just always going down I-65. Because we're all
going to have some curves in life. When I was up in North
Carolina, these curves here, you can't see around the corner. Not me either. No. He ain't going
either. And that's not something like
that. I ain't going. I ain't going either. We're going to
have to go. I'm sorry, buddy. You're going to have to go. But
you know what? Some of those curves, I could
not see around the corner at all. It was in my left at night
leaving. I mean, all I could see was the
yellow line and all I knew. And then when you're looking
up there, all you see, there is a bend in the road. What was
around that road? What's around that corner? I
have no idea. But what you got? Oh, my soul.
What you got to do? You got to be prepared. You got
to be ready to hit your brakes if you need to hit your brakes.
You got to be ready to swerve. You need to swerve over to the
other side because you don't know what's around that bend. And
then you get around that corner, nothing there. You're so happy.
Then every once in a while, You'll see a deer. And he was like moving
around like, hit me if you want to. He was like, I want to hit
that deer. Oh, oh, skunk. One time we hit that skunk. We
hit that skunk. It stayed with us for a long
time. We stayed with the van for a long time. I didn't want
to hit it, but I couldn't miss it. And so it's, you know, it's,
you know, I hit it and stuff happened and things stayed. That's
how it is in life too. Sometimes you hit things not
on purpose. And the scent of what you hit
stays with you for a little while. But what's awesome is they don't
stay. The scent don't stay. It's going to soon go away. Maybe
you're facing something this morning. Maybe something's happening
in your life this morning. And you're saying, man, this
is going to stay this way. It ain't going to change. It's
not going to change. It's not going to change. It ain't going to go back this
whole way. It's not. That financial burden that you're
facing, that foreclosure notice that you got, That nips go shut
off thing that you had. That job that says you done,
we letting you go, we down. It ain't always be like that.
God gonna see us through. All they ask us to do is do this.
What? Trust. If you want to leave here with
just one thing, that's that word trust. And I think some things
were accomplished. That one word, trust. When you
don't know what to do with yourself, when you don't know what to do
with your children, when you don't know what to do with your marriage,
when you don't know what to do with your job, trust. Trust who? Trust Him. Father, thank you for your many
wonderful blessings. I've tried my best to give out the words
you gave me, Lord, that moment to give out. And Father, perhaps
there's somebody here this morning that's struggling in the area
of trust. Now, I mean, I'm not talking about they don't believe
it's their God and their Savior, but simply trusting you for a
situation that they are in the midst of. They may be in the
battle and they're finding it hard. And I pray, God, that you
would increase their strength right now. And God, more than
that, increase their trust in you. Perhaps, God, we need to
come talk to you for a few moments. Maybe there's some folks that
you've been helping already, yeah. And they just want to simply
come and say, thank you, Lord, thank you, Lord, thank you, thank
you, thank you, that you help me to trust you. When I was just
about to give up, just about to quit, but I still trusted
you. Father, I pray they come and
just simply say, thank you. Perhaps, God, there's folks that need
to come for other reasons I've not mentioned.
