- Think deeply and frequently about the excellence of the majesty of God and your infinite, inconceivable distance from him. Pondering the excellence and majesty of God ought to fill you with a clear sense of your own vileness, which strikes at the very root of indwelling sin. When Job comes to a clear understanding of the greatness and excellence of God, he is filled with self-loathing and humiliation (Job 42:5-6). And what does Habakkuk say of himself when he sees the majesty of God?
