Christ Feeds Us Himself: Profession of Faith Required for Eating & Drinking Worthily

Since the Lord Jesus insists that it is Himself that He breaks unto us for nourishment, and that it is the covenant in His blood in which we participate as we drink the cup... worthy partaking must be done by saving faith. This kind of faith is one in which one believes in the heart and confesses with the mouth. Those elders who put the elements into communicants' hands dare not do so without a credible profession of faith, lest they put judgment and wrath into the hands of those to whom they intended to minister.
