Thank you, Brother Keith, for being always ready. I'm going to say a little prayer here, and you guys can pray for me as well, because I have a set of verses that they made perfect sense in my mind whenever I was thinking about this last week. And I was looking it over last night, and I thought, these verses have nothing to do with each other, and nobody's going to get anything out of this. So I'm going to pray that God lets you guys get something out of this that I don't have the power to give you. Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing us to be here in your house. Thank you that this is your house, the pillar and ground of the truth, that you have a presence here with us if we allow it. And it is something very clear that we can control whether you're here or not by the way that we interact. I pray that we would have open hearts, open minds, open ears to be able to hear the things that You want us to get from this pulpit today, Lord. I pray that You would give me the words that You have and that I would not be interpreting Scriptures in a way that You don't desire. We love You and we want You here with us. I pray this thanks in Your name. Amen. So, I lied to Ron. I told him I was going to do things in a certain order, and I'm not. Ron, can you put Proverbs 16, verse 9 up there first? So, we're going to read through two verses. And then I want to show you some pictures. Proverbs 16, verse 9. I think that's in my list. A man's heart deviseth his way, but the Lord directeth his steps. This struck me when I was reading a different passage, which was Psalms 37, verse 23. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and he delighteth in his way. Now, Brother Kinney is in Texas right now, so he cannot delve into the English portion of this verse, but I tell you, what struck me in this particular verse is who is he? Who is he? The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and he delighteth in his way. So my English expert here on the second row says that he refers to the Lord there, which is what I would assume is you have he delighteth in his way. So the Lord is delighted in the way of a good man following those steps there, but it could also be the reverse true. It could also be that the good man delights in the way of the Lord. Two valid points there. But tied into the first verse there, the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, but then you have in Proverbs 16.9 about the steps of a man being ordered that the Lord directs his steps. How can the Lord direct your steps if you are not a good man? And by good, let's be clear, the scripture makes it clear that there is none good but God. So when it talks about a good man, though, a man whose heart is set on the right things. All right, now we're going to jump the shark and go to something crazy. Ron, will you put the first picture up there, please? Okay, this is not a very bright picture here, but how much would you guess that this picture is worth? $200? Just 200. 200 million? Two million, okay. Is two million the high number so far? Three? This is not an auction, but do I hear five? This, by the way, this painting is called Salvatore Mundi by Leonardo da Vinci. I don't know if you guys have heard of him or not. This painting sold in 2017 for 450.3 million. The most expensive painting sold to date. that we know about, not including black market things, but that's pretty expensive for a painting. Now, in a minute I'm going to have Mr. Ron put up the next picture of a painting that I think is almost worth as much, and we can ask my mom here about it in a second. Will you put that other picture up, Ron? Now, for those of you who can't tell, this is a work of art, and I don't know Brother Daniel, do you have any of your kids' artwork on your fridge? You do? Now, how old is your oldest right now? Okay, eight years old. So you have some eight-year-old artwork on your fridge. I don't know if there's a point when you guys thought that you would stop putting your kids' artwork on your fridge, but do you guys want to guess how old I was when my parents put this artwork on the fridge? Keep going up, because this was only like two years ago. I think it may have been three years ago. But yeah, so just so you parents know, your kids may still come to you with artwork that they want on the fridge. Now, we just saw a painting that sold for $450 million. That's a lot of money. If my parents were offered the choice between the Salvador Mundi and this gorgeous piece of art, Mom, which one would you put on your fridge? Right answer. Right answer, mom. I love you. I owe you dinner. Now, does that change the worth of that painting by Leonardo da Vinci? Did the worth of that painting change at all by seeing this? Other than in some of your minds, it probably went up even higher. No. No, the worth of that painting itself didn't change. But the worth of those paintings in the eyes of my mother and father is different, isn't it? Their perspective on that is completely different. And that's really the entire point that I wanted to get across today. And there's one more set of verses that I want to share that I promise goes together somehow. God's going to put it together in your mind in a little bit. But the concept is that your perspective determines what is of worth to you. And what I really want you to consider today is, what is it that you have as your perspective? And what things of value are in your life right now? People may come by whatever private collector spent way too much money for that Leonardo da Vinci painting. and look at that painting hidden behind glass and trapped there forever. And they can walk by, and they can marvel at the brushstrokes. And they can think about how old this thing is and that it's still sustained in this way. And maybe that gives them some enjoyment for a little bit. Or maybe they bask in the joy of just the fact that they love the painting. I don't know. It looked kind of awkward to me. But maybe there's something about it that they can enjoy. But is that something that's eternal? Does even the person who paid $450 million for that painting sit there all day and stare at it? What things are in your life that you have put worth on, that you're willing to bid for, that you're upping the price in your life because they're things that you've made a priority? And think about those in light of those first two verses that we read. If we are a good man, If we are someone who is seeking the will of the Lord, He orders your steps. He shows you where to go and He places importance on the things that He wants to be important in your life. And as I walk through my metaphorical gallery in my life and look at the paintings that I've chosen of worth, too many times I look at one and think, why did I spend money, time, effort, energy on this painting? Why did I put that into this in my life? But maybe there are some that are hanging there that are worth it, and that they're hanging there and they're dusty, and they're in ill repair, and they've been left alone for too long because I've forgotten that God placed value on it, even if I don't. Last set of verses, Matthew chapter 6, verses 19 through 21, more that we're pretty familiar with here. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. I would venture to guess that none of you know exactly what heaven will be like. And I can tell you for sure that in my mind, I don't for sure know what's going to be of value in heaven. I know that I'm not taking anything on earth with me to heaven. So what is it that God is encouraging me to place value on, to have as my treasure, and to order my steps in a direction that takes me in the care and value of that particular thing? In your life today, think about what currently has value, what you spent your money and your time on, and think about what should be your value.
