Waiting on the Lord

"What are you waiting for?" Imagine sitting in your car at an intersection and the light has changed, and you did not respond quickly enough for the person behind you. You will probably hear a horn or even see a finger. "You think I got all day!?" No one likes to wait, especially in our day and age. Everything comes to us instantly, whether it is fast food, texts or information. But waiting is part of what it means to be a Christian. God knows all things, sees all things, controls all things, and understands all things. We do not. God keeps us waiting so that we will be dependent upon Him, so we lean upon that which can never be taken away – Himself! Waiting on the Lord is trusting Him in all situations. What are you waiting on? We will always be waiting on someone or some situation. Waiting is a spiritual discipline of the Christian life. Fishing is a good measure of our ability to wait. Not sure if I could do it! Do you know how to wait on the Lord? Waiting is not passivity or inactivity. God is active when we are waiting, often working behind the scenes to put it all together, before He fulfills our prayer request. Wait on God with humility, hope and joy. "They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31)
