I will carry out your words to my Lord, said Willbewill, and hear what he has to say. The trumpeter immediately replied, Our message is not to the giant Diabolus, but to the miserable town of Mansoul. We shall not regard any answer he makes to us at all, nor will we entertain any answer from him through any messengers. We are sent to this town to recover it from under his cruel tyranny and to persuade it to submit to the most excellent king, Shaddai, as it had in former times." Then said the Lord Willbewill, I will do your errand to the town. The trumpeter then replied, Sir, do not deceive us for fear that in so doing you deceive yourselves much more. He added, moreover, for if you do not submit yourselves in a peaceable manner, we are then resolved to make a war upon you and to bring you under by force. And of the truth of what I now say, this shall be a sign unto you. You shall see a black flag with its hot burning thunderbolt set upon the mount tomorrow. This will be set as a token of defiance against your prince and of our resolutions to reduce you to your Lord and rightful King. So this same Lord Willbewill returned from off the wall, and the trumpeter came into the camp. When the trumpeter had come into the camp, the captains and officers of the mighty king Shaddai gathered together to know if he had obtained a hearing and what was the effect of his errand. So the trumpeter told them, saying, When I had sounded my trumpet and had called aloud to the town for a hearing, my Lord Willbewill, the governor of the town, and one who was in charge of the gates, came up when he heard me sound. And looking over the wall, he asked me what I was, from where I came, and what was the reason for my making this noise. So I told him my errand and by whose authority I brought it. Then he said, I will tell it to the governor and to Mansoul. Then I return to my lords. Then said the brave Boanerges, let us yet for a while lie still in our trenches and see what these rebels will do. Now, when the time drew near that audience by Mansoul must be given to the brave Boanerges and his companions, it was commanded that all the men of war throughout the whole camp of Shaddai should stand armed as one man and make themselves ready if the town of Mansoul shall hear to receive the mercy offered. but if not, to force a subjection. So the day came, the trumpeters sounded, and throughout the whole camp, the men of war made themselves ready for whatever work should be done that day. But when they that were in the town of Mansoul heard the sound of the trumpets throughout the camp of Shaddai, and thinking that the sound was given for no other reason except that it must be in order to storm the corporation, their spirits were at first dismayed. But after they settled down a little, they also made what preparation they could for a war, if they did storm, else to secure themselves. Well, when the utmost time had come, Boanerges was resolved to hear their answer. So he sent out his trumpeter again to summon Mansoul to a hearing of the message that they had brought from Shaddai. So he went and sounded, and the townsmen came up, but made irrigate as secure as they could. Now, when they had come up to the top of the wall, Captain Boanerges desired to see the Lord Mayor. But my Lord Incredulity was then Lord Mayor, for he came in the room of my Lord Lustings. So Incredulity came up and showed himself over the wall, but when Captain Boanerges had set his eyes upon him, he cried out aloud, You're not him! Where is my Lord Understanding, the ancient Lord Mayor of the town of Mansoul? It is to him I wish to deliver my message. Then said the Giant, for Diabolus had also come down to the Captain. Oh, Mr. Captain! You have, by your boldness, given the mansoul at least four summonses to subject yourself to your king, by whose authority I don't recognize, nor will I dispute that now. I ask, therefore, what is the reason for all this ado, and what would you be at if you knew yourselves?" Then Captain Boanerges, who possessed the black colors and whose shield was the three burning thunderbolts, took no notice of the giant or of his speech and thus addressed himself to the town of Mansoul. Be it known unto you, O unhappy and rebellious Mansoul, that the most gracious king, the great king Shaddai, my master, has sent me unto you with commission to reduce you to his obedience, showing the town his broad seal. And he has commanded me, in case you yield upon my summons, to carry it to you as if you were my friends or brethren. But he also instructed that if, after summons to submit, you still stand out and rebel, we should endeavor to take you by force. To be continued. My favorite part. For questions, I have three sets of questions from today's episode. The first two actually were from last week because it still continues from last week and it's still applicable. The first set of questions, Lord Willbewill, the governor of Mansoul, in answering the trumpet sound, he told the trumpeter that he would carry the message to his Lord Diabolus. to hear what he has to say. Why did Will Be Will give this answer? Read Romans 6 verse 16. How does this verse of scripture inform your answer? The second one was also from last week. The trumpeter immediately replied that the message was not for Diabolus but for Mansoul. Why is this? Read Isaiah 58 verse 1. And how does this verse of scripture inform your answer? And then this is a new set of questions for today's episode. The trumpeter was sent a fourth time to sound a summons to Mansoul. At first the townsfolk were alarmed and dismayed, but afterward made themselves ready for war and attempted to make Irgate more secure. Read Zechariah chapter 7 verse 11 and explain how the soul of unbelief responds initially to the Spirit of God. And so that is the Holy War episode 16.
