Outreach & Unity (Philippians 4)

Outreach & Unity is are essential elements for every congregation that is seeking to follow the Lord.

Outreach builds Churches and disunity destroys Churches.

Jesus prayed that His followers be one.

There is perfect Unity in the Godhead and God wants Unity in His followers.

Now when you study the book of Philippians you become aware that Paul reminded the Church at Philippi several times that they needed to be united.

The Believers in Philippi bought Paul joy.
The Church in Philippi was about 10 years old when Paul wrote to them his letter from his imprisonment in Rome. The Philippian Church brought Paul joy in a number of ways.
Paul would have been happy that this diverse group of people were still a viable witness for the Gospel still in the City of Philippi.
They would also have brought him joy knowing that years on from his departure at Philippi that they still cared for him and they would have brought Paul joy knowing that the Church he planted was progressing in their faith.

The Philippian Christians were Paul's valued prize on earth, they brought Paul much joy but they would also be his crown in Glory. The Philippians would be part of Paul's reward in Heaven.

Do you know that I believe part of our reward in Heaven will be people? People that we have won to the Lord, people that we have helped to mature in their Christian life. I think part of our reward also will be people that have been won by people that we have helped along the way.
