Advancing on Our Knees

We all long for spiritual revival. For the Spirit of God to sweep through this land! For people to turn to God in repentance and faith. But how do we make forward progress and take the offensive in the spiritual conflict? Through prayer! The church advances on its knees. But how should we pray? Paul, in Ephesians 6, gives four characteristics of effective prayer for spiritual revival. It needs to be continual, in concert with the Spirit of God, and also concentrated. Prayer is very hard work and demands our full attention. Prayer to be effective in spiritual battle also needs to be corporate. That is, we need to band together with other believers to pray for other believers, for non-believers, and for Christian workers who are on the front line of spiritual action. It is as we are on our knees, praying that the spiritual battle is won!
