Go to verse number 12, Philippians
chapter number one, verse number 12. But I would you should understand
brethren that the things which happen unto me have fallen out
rather under the furtherance of the gospel. So that my bonds
in Christ are manifest in all the palace and in all other places.
And many of the brethren in the Lord waxing confident by my bonds
are much more bold to speak the word without fear. Some indeed
preach Christ even of envy and strife and some also of goodwill.
The one preached Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add
affliction to my bonds, but the other of love, knowing that I'm
set for the defense of the gospel. What then? Notwithstanding every
way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached, and
I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. Our Father, I pray
that you'd bless us today. I pray that we would think of
you, think of your words, think of all that we need to hear and
learn and understand that we might apply it to our lives.
Guide and direct and bless, in Christ's name we ask it, amen.
The book of Philippians is a book about joy, but it's not about
some kind of a joy where you're always happy and a joy where
everything's always rosy and right and nice and kind and fluffy. It is a joy that still comes
in the midst of difficult circumstances. The Christian life is a life
of joy. is a life of rejoicing. Again,
this does not mean that you will always be happy. This does not
mean that you will always be healthy. This does mean that
Jesus Christ will be with you at all times and you can rejoice
all of the time. Why? Because your sins are forgiven. You have a home in heaven. You
have a relationship with God because of what Jesus Christ
has done for you. And he has promised you that
he will never leave you nor forsake you. Despite your circumstances,
whether they are good or whether they are bad, Jesus Christ will
never leave. Amen. And with that, we can rejoice. Remember, Paul is under house
arrest. He is chained to a Roman soldier
as he writes. A true measure of spirituality
is what does it take to rob you of your joy? What does it take
to remove that joy, that looking up to God in all things? What
does it take to do that? What causes you to lose heart
and stop trusting the God who promised to take you to heaven
and promised to sustain you every step of the way here. Not what
takes away your happiness, because happiness is circumstantial. And happiness is a byproduct
of good and bad. It's a byproduct of what takes
place around us. But Paul reminds us that the
attitude of rejoicing can be with us at all times. And it is very important to maintain
that attitude in your life at all times. He begins with the
words, but I would, you should understand.
But I would, you should understand. So what does he want us to understand
as he continues on in this verse? He wants us to understand this,
that distress can yield progress. Distress can yield progress. Look what he says here again,
verse number 12 of Philippians chapter number one. But I would,
you should understand, brethren, that the things which happen
unto me have fallen out rather under the furtherance of the
gospel, so that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace
and all the other places. And many of the brethren in the
Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to
speak the word without fear. Now again, he's under house arrest.
He's been arrested for preaching the gospel. He's in Rome in his
own house, but he's got Roman soldiers there all of the time. You can almost hear him say,
I may not be happy about my situation. I may not be happy because I
can't leave this house. I can't go where I want to go.
I can't get to the synagogue. I can't get to where I need to
be, but I can rejoice in that the gospel message is progressing. It is going forth despite my
being in this place. It is not a matter of putting
on rose-colored Christian glasses. It is not a matter of sticking
your head in the sand or denying reality. It is a matter of seeing
the bigger picture. Now this morning's message is
entitled, Turn the Camera Around. In the selfie world in which
we live, there is a bigger picture. Turn the camera around. Amen? Paul is here in prison. He is here in distress. He is
here in trouble, in problems. This is not a good situation
to be in, no matter how you write it. And instead of focusing on
himself, what is he focusing on? He's focusing on God. He's focusing on other people. He's saying, I'm here in prison,
but because of my trouble, because of my distress, the gospel's
being furthered. What does he do? He turns the
camera around. He focuses it not on himself,
which we all like to do so often. He puts the camera the other
way, makes sure the wide lens is on, and he sees a world without
Christ. What happened to me? is no big
deal. What I'm going through is no
big deal. The problems, the distresses
that I am facing are no big deal because the gospel is going further. The gospel is progressing. More
people are hearing the word of God preached, more people are
hearing the gospel and coming to Christ, and that is all I
am concerned about. My distress has led to eternal
progress, and in that I can rejoice. Amen. There's where we find our
problem in life. It's our attitude toward life. The camera is facing the wrong
way. Who do we tend to focus on? I
think the word selfie explains it all. Who do we tend to focus
on? Me. What I'm going through. What's happening to me? What's
taking place in my life? What's going on in my circumstances,
my situation? It is all about me and my distresses. That's our problem. The camera's
facing the wrong way. Turn the camera around. You see, when we focus on distress,
and he kinda says here, I want you to understand this, that
the things which happened unto me, that's where most of us stop. I want you to hear about the
things that happened unto me, me. Let me share some secret
with you. There's no such thing as a problem-free
life. Did you hear me? There is no
such thing as a problem-free life. If you believe that, it's
because you're not reading the Bible, or you're listening to
a charlatan who tells you that everything's gonna be rosy, everything's
gonna be great, you can live your best life now, and everything
will be wonderful if you just come to Christ, and oh, by the
way, send me a lot of money. That's not what the Bible says.
There's no such thing as a problem-free life. It doesn't exist. We're
all going to have problems. It is going to happen. What do
we need to do? We need to turn the camera around. Turn the camera
around. Stop focusing on self. Stop focusing
on me and see what God is doing for his honor and his glory.
And sometimes he does that in the middle of our problems. Let's look at some passages of
scripture. Go to John chapter number 15, John chapter number
15. John chapter 15, look at verse
number 18. John chapter 15, verse number
18. If the world hate you, You know
that it hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world,
the world would love his own, but because you are not of the
world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the
world hateth you. Remember the word that I said
unto you, the servant is not greater than his Lord. If they
have persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they have
kept my sayings, they will keep yours also. What is Christ saying? This is not gonna be a fun road
all the time being in this world. You're gonna have people who
hate you. You're gonna be persecuted. Things will go wrong. John chapter
number 16, verse number 33. John 16, verse number 33. These things I have spoken unto
you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world you shall
have tribulation. But be of good cheer, I have
overcome the world. You're gonna have tribulation.
You're gonna have distress. You're gonna have problems. You're
gonna have troubles. They are going to come. These
are from the words of Jesus Christ. He didn't whitewash anything
and say come to me and everything's gonna be rosy and great and wonderful.
He told you the truth. There are going to be problems. But you can rejoice because I've
overcome the world. and you're gonna have peace in
and through me. Amen. Go to 2 Timothy chapter
number four. 2 Timothy chapter number four. 2 Timothy chapter number four,
verse number 12. 2 Timothy 3, 12, excuse me. 2 Timothy chapter three, verse
number 12. Yea, and all that will live godly
in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. How many? All that
are godly in Christ Jesus. One more, go to 2nd Peter. 1st
Peter, chapter number four. 1st Peter, chapter number four.
Verse number 12. 1st Peter, chapter four, verse
number 12. These are just a sampling of the verses. The Bible tells
us there will be trouble. There will be persecutions. There
will be distresses. We will go through problems.
There's no such thing as a problem-free life. but to the Christian, you've
got Christ. First Peter chapter four, verse
number 12. Beloved, think it not strange, considering the
fiery trial, which is to try you, as though some strange thing
happened unto you. But rejoice in as much as you
are partakers of Christ's suffering, that when his glory shall be
revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be
reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye. For the spirit
of glory and of God resteth upon you. On their part he is evil
spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. God said, you're
gonna have trouble in this world. It's going to happen. Go to Romans chapter number eight,
Romans chapter number eight. Romans chapter number eight, verse 35. Romans chapter eight,
verse number 35. Who shall separate us from the
love of Christ? Shall tribulation? or distress,
or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword. He acknowledges these things
are gonna be in your life. These tribulations, these persecutions,
these distresses, these bad things, these hard times, they will come
into your life, but will any of them separate you from the
love of Christ? I mentioned to you before, verse number 36,
you kind of wonder why it's there. He says, as it is written, for
thy sake we are killed all the day long, we are counted as sheep
for the slaughter. What he does here in verse number
36 is he quotes from Psalm 44, verse number 22, where the psalmist
is saying, God, where are you? God, I don't see you. God, I
don't understand. God, what is going on that you're
not helping us right here, right now, in changing these circumstances? We're killed all the day long.
We're counted as sheep for the slaughter. And what does Paul
answer that as he uses that? He answers it in verse number
37, nay, no. No, that's not what's taking
place. God has not ignored you. God is not away. God has allowed
these things to happen in your life. But in all these things,
in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him that
loved us. For I'm persuaded that neither
death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers,
nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth,
nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the
love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Nothing's gonna
take you away. and in that you can rejoice,
amen. He's already said in this same
chapter that we know that God works all things for good, amen. He doesn't say all things are
good. Never said that. We're gonna have tribulation,
we're gonna have distress, we're gonna have trials, we're gonna
have bad things happen. Turn the camera around. That's what Paul does here. It's not on me. It's on Christ. God is for me. God loves me. He never said he'd remove the
trials. He said that he loves me and that nothing will ever
separate me from that love. Amen. Now remember, The chapter
divisions in verses were not in the original. They're not
inspired by God. They were added for our benefit
so we could read closer. What does he say right after
he says, nothing's gonna separate me from the love of God? What
does he say? Look at chapter nine, verse number one. I say
the truth in Christ, I lie not. My conscience also bearing me
witness in the Holy Ghost that I have great heaviness and continual
sorrow in my heart for I could wish that myself were accursed
from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh. Did you get this? He said through
all the bad things that have happened to us, to me in my life,
I don't focus them on me. I turn the camera around and
I look up to a God who said nothing will ever separate me from his
love and I look out to a world that needs to be saved. He's
saying in verses one through three of chapter number nine,
I would go to hell to see my brethren, the Jews, Israel, saved. Wow. I'd be willing to be accursed. I'd be willing to be separated
from God for eternity that other people might be saved. Wow, what
a statement. That's not focusing on me. That's
on Christ. On others. turn the camera around. He said, my distress is leading
to progress. He said, the things that happened
unto me, and he doesn't stop there in Philippians chapter
one, verse number 12. He says, they've happened unto me for
the furtherance of the gospel. So the gospel message will continue.
So the gospel message will get out there. People are still witnessing.
People are still preaching Jesus Christ. And in that, I can rejoice. He said, I'm stuck here. But
the gospel is progressing. I'm stuck here in this house
with this Roman soldier. They change all the time, but
I'm still stuck here with a Roman soldier. The gospel is spreading. It is going in every direction.
He uses the word in the palace here, in the palace. The Greek
word is praetorian. Some commentators take this as
a reference, not just to the palace, the palace courtyard,
but literally to the praetorian guard. The Praetorian Guard was
originally composed of 10,000 hand-picked soldiers, started
by Caesar Augustus. You know him. He was the Caesar
that ruled when Jesus Christ was born. He picked these soldiers
to guard the city of Rome. They were there in charge of
keeping the peace in Rome, of keeping the peace there and from
outward invaders. Tiberius increased their numbers,
he built a special fortified camp to house them, and there's
perhaps one of these guards that's being chained to the Apostle
Paul 24-7. Oh yeah, they twitch, but Paul's
there writing, Paul's there speaking to people, because guests can
come in, and they hear the gospel message from Paul. And guess
what these soldiers are doing? They're trusting Christ as Savior.
You know what they do then? When their shift is over and
they go back, they're witnessing to other people. He's gonna go
on to say later on in the book, many people, even of Caesar's
household, have come to trust Christ as their Savior. Wow,
why? Because I'm stuck here. Because I'm imprisoned here.
because I can't get out here, but the gospel is going forward. Boy, that's amazing. How many
of us get stuck in a circumstance, get stuck in a predicament, get
stuck in some kind of trouble, and we just stop. Head goes down, heart swoons,
and we shut down. Paul said, no, I'm gonna do what's
right. I'm gonna witness to those that
are with me. I'm gonna still give out the gospel message.
I'm gonna write letters. I'm gonna be busy doing for God
because while I'm stuck in this place, while I'm in this distress,
the gospel can still progress and in that I will rejoice, amen. What does he do? He turns the
camera around. He doesn't focus on me. He focuses
on what God is doing outside of him. Amen. Understand this. It's not me. It's Christ. It's not me. It's the gospel. Turn the camera
around. There's an Old Testament illustration,
very clear of this, a guy by the name of Joseph. Do you remember
Joseph? Joseph had a dream that one day his mother and father
and brethren would all bow down before him and he didn't know
what it was all about, but he told it to them and that was
probably not a good idea. He let him know this dream and
they hated him. They hated him for all kinds of reasons. They
hated Joseph. One day his brothers sold him
into slavery. And what does Joseph do? He goes
and he sits on a bench, he lowers his head and he cries out and
he just, it's over, right? No. He turns the camera around. I don't like being a slave. But
I'm going to serve God. I'm going to do what's right. You read Genesis 39, the Bible
says, and the Lord was with Joseph. Is he with you when you go through
your problems? Yeah. He said he'd never leave
you. He'd never forsake you. And Joseph
would rejoice in the Lord. Oh no, not happy about the circumstances,
but he would rejoice in the Lord and do what's right. And would
God use him? Well, eventually he's going to
prison. Eventually he'll be forgotten about in prison. Eventually he'll
end up rising to the second in command to the most powerful
nation on the planet at the time. And God will use him to save
the nation of Israel, saving us. Because Christ came through
the nation of Israel. His distress led to what? Progress. In reality, the furtherance
of the gospel. Because Christ came. Can God do that for you? Yeah. 17th century England, there was
a preacher by the name of John Bunyan. He was such a powerful
preacher and such a popular preacher that the Church of England imprisoned
him to silence him. Well, refusing to be silent,
he began to preach in the jail courtyard. Well, the prisoners
would come hear him. People would gather outside of
the walls of the jail to hear John Bunyan preach and give out
the gospel message. Well, the Church of England really
didn't like that. They stuck him in a dungeon in
the middle where he could not be heard. You know what John
Bunyan did? He wrote a book. entitled The
Pilgrim's Progress. And for a while, there was no
better selling book, other than the Bible, than The Pilgrim's
Progress, in which through analogy, he outlines the Christian life
and coming to Christ and serving Christ. What he went through,
his distress, led to the gospel progressing.
He could say, with Paul, what happened unto me happened unto
the furtherance of the gospel. For while he couldn't preach
for a few years, his book went to the ends of the earth. Can
God do that for you? Yes. But what you need to do
in order for that to happen, turn the camera around. Turn
the camera around. Paul says here in Philippians
chapter number one, things that happen unto me are no big deal. because the gospel is going further.
The brethren have been emboldened to preach the gospel more. They're
doing great. They're preaching the gospel.
The lost are being saved. The word of God is going forth
and it is great. What does he do? He doesn't focus
in on himself. He doesn't take that selfie of
himself in prison, crying, sulking, wondering where is God in all
of this. No, he says, God's with me. I'm still going to do what's
right and God will bless. Amen. Number two, detractors
can yield proclaimers. Detractors can yield proclaimers. Look back at Philippians chapter
one, verse number 15. He's just said the gospel is
being preached, the brethren are being emboldened, good things
are happening, but then he says in verse number 15, some indeed
preach Christ, even of envy and strife, and some also of goodwill.
The one preached Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add
affliction to my bonds, but the other of love, knowing that I'm
set for the defense of the gospel. What then? Notwithstanding every
way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached. And
I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice." Again, we find
another example of Paul's ability, or rather his attitude, of being
able to turn the camera around. Get it off of me and on to where
it should be. On to Christ and who he is and
what he has done, and on to people who need to hear about Jesus
Christ, that they might be saved. In prison for the preaching of
the gospel. He had people actually disparaging
him and speaking unkindly of him to say the least. He had
detractors, he had people saying bad things of him because he's
now in prison for preaching the gospel. He says in verses 15
and 16, some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife. He says
in verse 16, the one preached Christ of contention. There's
detractors, disparagers, those that are saying bad things about
him. Envy. Some people preaching Christ
have envy. Now envy is the idea of wishing
others didn't have what they have. You know, it's kind of
like jealousy. Jealousy is the idea of wishing
I had what you have. Envy is wishing you didn't have
what you have at all. That's envy. And they were envious
of the Apostle Paul, and they preached Christ that way. People with the camera facing
themselves. One illustration. I should be
them. That should be me. They don't
deserve that, I do. And on and on we go. These were
preachers of the gospel. This is kind of astounding, but
it's a fact. These were preachers of the gospel who were theologically
correct, but because the focus of their lives was on self and
not Christ, they disparaged the apostle Paul in his hour of need. He's in prison. They could have
helped him. They could have prayed for him. They could have visited
him. Instead, they said bad things about him. Oh, they were preaching
Christ. They were doing the right thing
that way. But their envy of the Apostle Paul caused them to say
bad things about him. Strife. Strife is unchecked envy. is what it is. It is unchecked
envy, and it leads to a malice of thought, a malice of word,
and malice of deed. If I don't think you should have
what you have, then I start to get angry about it. I don't check
that envy. I'm going to get mad at you for having it. That's
what's going on here. And yet they're still preaching
Christ. They're still preaching Christ, that envy, that strife
coming out against Paul. It is one thing when the world
persecutes you. It is one thing when the lost
says bad things about you. It is one thing when those who
don't know Christ will disparage you. But when your detractors
are supposed believers, oh, that's painful. When those who are supposed
to love you, those who are supposed to pray for you, those who are
supposed to be on your side, on your team, moving things forward,
they're the ones that are striking out, lashing out against you,
that is painful. He said they're preaching Christ
out of contention. And the word means selfish ambition. I want what's mine and I'm going
to get it. And they thought that by their
preaching the gospel, they could hurt the Apostle Paul in prison. Wow. Absolutely amazing. What does Paul do? What does he do? Let's read it.
Verse 17. Verse 16, the one preached Christ
of contention, not sincerely supposing to add affliction to
my bonds, but the other of love, knowing that I'm set for the
defense of the gospel, what then, notwithstanding every way, whether
in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached, and I therein do
rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. He turns the camera around, and
he said, It doesn't matter if they're saying bad things about
me. They're preaching Christ. And I'm happy about that. I can
rejoice in that. Wow. Now, I'm not on social media. at all, and you know that, I
don't do that. My wife is, and she takes care
of that kind of stuff, and every now and then she'll show me some
of the things that are on there, and some of them are really funny,
and some of them are really sad, and some of them are crazy. One
of the ones that I've seen is kids, somehow something bad's
happened to them, and most of the time the thing that has happened
to them that's so awful is they've had their phone taken away. And
what are they doing? They've got a phone focused on
themselves and they are crying into this phone camera. And you see them just bawling
into this phone about how bad they have it. Think about the Apostle Paul
right now. He's in prison. He's attached. by a chain to a Roman soldier. He's got the world hating him
for preaching the gospel. Now he hears about preachers
who are saying negative things about him in prison. What would we do? We'd get that
phone out. We'd focus in on ourselves. Now,
not literally, figuratively, and we would start thinking about
how bad I have it. This is horrible. I'm stuck here. Where's God? It stinks. Now I got these people talking
bad about me all the time. This is awful. This is horrible. I might as well just give up. What does he do? He turns the
camera around. I don't care what they say about
me. As long as they're preaching Christ, I'm rejoicing. Wow. Wow. Can we have that same attitude?
Yeah, we can, but we got to work at it. We've got to foster it.
We've got to do it. Paul would not cry into the camera,
so to speak. He does not focus on the fact
that he is in prison. Doesn't focus on the fact that
he is being disparaged. He focuses on the fact that Jesus
Christ is being preached. He's focusing on the fact that
people are hearing the gospel and coming to know Jesus Christ
as Savior. It doesn't matter if people with
wrong attitudes are preaching him, they're still preaching
him. Jonah did that. He preached repentance to the
city of Nineveh with a bad attitude. And the city of Nineveh repented.
And Paul said, Christ is being preached. And in that, I am rejoicing. Amen. You will have problems. You will have distresses. You
will have troubles. No one gets through this life
without them. Turn the camera around. You will
have detractors. You will have people say bad
things about you, even when you do what's right. Because as the
old adage puts it, no good deed goes unpunished. People will
say bad things about you. It is just going to happen. Turn the camera around. Stop focusing on yourself. There's
no joy when it's focused on you. There's none whatsoever at all.
You cannot rejoice in Christ for all that he has done for
you when it's focused on you and all of the things that you
are going through. When God wants to use you even
in the middle of that, turn the camera around. Look into God's
word. He's got a whole lot to say about
people and use people, give us examples of people who went through
horrible things and still remained faithful and God used them for
his honor and glory. Amen. He can do that for you. Yeah, you'll have problems. Look
into God's word. Find out what he says about it.
Look up. to the living word. Did Jesus
Christ suffer that you might be saved? He took your sin penalty
and he paid it in full as the father poured out his wrath against
sin on Christ. And if you go through something,
he's already gone through it. and he knows how to comfort you. Look to him. He said he will
never leave you nor forsake you. He said that nothing will separate
you from his love. Amen. Turn the camera around
and look out to a lost world that needs Jesus Christ. This
world needs Christ. There are people around us everywhere
that need to be saved. And if we focus in on me and
how bad I have it and how awful life has been to me, we'll never
see that bigger picture. Turn the camera around and see
that people need to be saved. Amen. What you have in Jesus
Christ will always outweigh this world's issues. Always. What you can do for eternity
is far greater than what's happening to you right now. Again, let's go back to 2 Corinthians
chapter number four and read the Apostle Paul's words again.
2 Corinthians chapter number four, verse number eight as we close. We are troubled on every side
yet not distressed. We are perplexed, but not in
despair. Persecuted, but not forsaken. Cast down, but not destroyed. Always bearing about in the body
the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might
be made manifest in our body. Jump to verse number 17. Here's
the camera being turned around. for our light affliction, which
is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and
eternal weight of glory, while we look not at the things which
are seen, but at the things which are not seen, for the things
which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not
seen are eternal. What's he saying here? It doesn't
matter what I go through here in this life, it is Temporary. Temporary. I am serving God for
the eternal. For eternity. People are being
saved. They're eternal. Good things
are happening that's eternal. And I am looking to that. Our problem is we look at the
things that are seen. We got our life camera out, our
phone out, and it's focused squarely on me. And we wonder why there's no
joy? We wonder why we don't see things
the other way? Turn the camera around. God will use you for
eternity if you'll let Him. Our Heavenly Father, thank you
for all that you've done. Thank you for Christ and for salvation
and the time we've had to look at the Apostle Paul and how he
did just that. Lord, circumstances were not
good, were not great from a worldly perspective, but Lord, you allowed
them and you furthered the gospel through them. Lord, I pray we'd
understand that same thing. That no matter where we are in
life, no matter what we are going through, we need to be faithful
to you, we need to trust in you, and we need to serve you. So
Lord, I pray that we would do just that. Determine, we're gonna
have that attitude not of the selfie, but of looking to you
and looking to the world around us that needs you. Guide and
direct us as we make decisions. I pray that you would speak to
each one of our hearts and help us all to say, yes, that's how
I'm going to live. guide and direct and bless in
this invitation, we'll thank you and we'll praise you for
it in Christ's name we ask it, amen. With every head bowed,
every eye closed, no one looking around. Has God spoken to your
heart? Let me ask you. I don't mean
literally, I mean figuratively. Are you living in a selfie world? Where your concern is about self
and what's happening to you and what's going on in your life
and you, you, you. Can you turn the camera around
and say, God wants to use me now for eternity. And if something
happens, I'm going to trust him and do what's right. If people
disparage me, I'm going to trust him and do what's right. I'm
going to look to Christ and see what he's doing and what he wants
to do. And I want to be used of him
in that effort. You say, pastor, pray for me. First of all, let's
begin. Pastor, I'm saved, I know it.
I've trusted Jesus Christ as my savior, and I'm going to heaven.
Put your hand up as a testament of that fact. You're saved, you
know it, put your hand up. Amen, God bless you, amen, that's great.
You put your hands down, amen. Christian, has God spoken to your heart?
Where's your focus? Which way is your lens pointing?
You say, Pastor, pray for me, and I need to look to Christ.
I need to look to others. Pastor, pray for me. Anyone like
that, put your hand up, put it back down. Amen, amen, God bless
you, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen. Anyone else, just slip
your hand up, put it back down. Pastor, God's spoken to me. Amen,
God bless you. Maybe you're here, you've never
trusted Christ as Savior. You don't know you're going to
heaven. You don't know your sins are forgiven. You don't know
Christ. Pastor, pray for me. Anyone like that, put your hand
up, put it back down. I don't know that I'm saved. Pastor,
pray for me. Our Father, thank you for this time that we've
had to spend together in your word. Thank you, Lord, for applying
it to our hearts and lives. Now, I pray that we would do
something about it and that doing something is saying yes to you
and leaving here determined we're gonna live it out. So, Lord,
help us to do that. If there's anyone here who has
never trusted you as their savior, show them that's their greatest
need. Convict them and draw them to you. Lord, work right now
in every decision, every heart, every life, and help us, Lord,
to focus on you and this lost world that needs you. Guide and
direct and bless. In Christ's name we ask it, amen. Let's all stand, grab a hymn
book right in front of you, turn to page 388. 388, as we sing
this verse of invitation, we invite you to respond. Talk to God, what does he want
you to do? What decision does he want you
to make? Do it as we sing this first verse. You need to be saved,
I'll be waiting for you right down front. You come, I'll have
someone take a Bible and show you how you can know that Jesus
Christ is your savior. Talk to him, pray, trust him,
sing, and be drawn closer to God right now during this invitation.
