JESUS AS ISAIAH'S SERVANT OF THE LORD
Observation 5: Matthew presents Jesus as the Isaianic Servant of the Lord who identifies with His people in such a way that on their behalf He fulfills all the righteousness God requires of them in both active and passive obedience to all God has required.
Observation 6: Matthew presents Jesus as the Isaianic Servant of the Lord who is chosen, precious, and beloved like a son.
Pleasing to the Father:
- Jesus comes to identify with His people
- Jesus comes to provide the righteousness His people lack
- Jesus provides all that is needed to usher in the New Creation
- Jesus is the only one with whom the Father is pleased
