The Corinthians had a problem with spiritual gifts - they wee abusing them, and saw them primarily as for personal gory. In correcting them, Paul takes them back to first principles, reminding them of the need for discernment, and the reality and usefulness of diversity. Finally he gives directions for humility and contentment.
