Exalted Revelation

Paul takes the most prestigious marker that a man could have, namely, to be a receiver of divine revelation, and uses that to substantiate his claim that there can be no doubt that boasting is unprofitable--even the most spiritually exalted thing in man's eyes gives no grounds for boasting. There are still things to learn from Paul's experience of being exalted to the third heaven even though he was not allowed to tell us what he heard or saw. We see that this was vital in God's equipping and enabling of Paul to accomplish the calling God had placed upon him. Also, we learn that God's preparation for each one of us is unique because God alone knows what is necessary to make us effective servants in His hands. All that the Lord brings into our lives, both 'good' and 'bad' are meant for His glory and the furthering of His Kingdom. Paul was prepared to boast (about 'that' man) when the power and glory were obviously God's alone and he refused to boast about himself, knowing that would distract people's attention away from God and His word--the only source of grace, power and wisdom.
