Yeah. Amen. I'd like to welcome you to our Wednesday night service, especially those of you that are joining us by the way of the Internet. We thank God for your presence. As always, we pray for you, and we may not be able to see you, but you can see us or hear us. And I just want you to know that we do appreciate you tuning in and listening to the message. I trust it'll be a challenge to you tonight, and a challenge you to want to do more for Him, to trust God more. Just believe God. And he wants to use you tonight if we'll make ourselves available. And if you'd like to find your place in John chapter 6. John chapter 6 and this is another message in the series of unnamed servants and saints in the Bible. And there are many in the Bible that were used of the Lord that we don't have a record of their name, but we know that the Lord keeps good records and He has a good record of their name and all that they've done. And don't think that the place that you've called to serve, like we've just heard that song, Little Is Much, when the Lord is in it, don't think that that little place that you've been called to serve is small. It's great in the eyes of the Lord and He can use anybody if we'll just make ourselves available. I trust you found your place in John chapter 6. And the title of the message is, There is a Lad Here. I wonder if that could be said of you. Whether you're listening by the way of the internet or you're right here underneath the sound of my voice in this building, could I ask, could that be said of you? And I realize you're here. I realize you're in that place where you can hear what's being said, but could it be said of you that you're available? That everything that you have is available to the Lord. You know, the disciples were here in this story. We all know the story. It's about the little boy that gave his lunch to Jesus to feed 5,000 men plus the women and children that were there. We know a very familiar story, but there was more people there than just that little lad. And everybody played a role, that's for sure, but the disciples were there, 5,000 men plus the women and children were there. But you know what? In this story, there weren't but one There was one little lad, there was one lad here, one lad here that made everything he had available to Jesus. Could you be that person tonight? Could you be that person that just answers the call and says, I'll be the one, I'll be the one Lord. In John chapter 6, Let's read verse 1 to start with. Verse 1 it says, After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. after what things?" It's always good to look at something because this is the start of a brand new chapter here, but it says, after these things, well, what things? What led up to this particular moment where we find Jesus going over the Sea of Galilee? And in John chapter 4, Jesus said, I must go through Samaria. Why? Because there was an unnamed woman who needed to be saved. When she put her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior, she immediately became a saint and a servant for the Lord. She immediately left everything that she had brought to that Jacob's well there. She left it there and ran back to the village because she could not help herself but to share the good news with others. And the Bible says that many many believed in Him. And then you get to the end of chapter 4 there in John. Jesus leaves Samaria and He went to Galilee and there He met an unnamed nobleman. This man approached Jesus on behalf of his son who was at the point of death. And Jesus told him, "'Go thy way, thy son liveth.'" The Bible says that this father believed and then it also says that he led his whole house to believe. Isn't it good to know that whether you've made a mess of your life like that woman at the well, or whether you've lived a good life as a nobleman, Jesus can meet the need of your heart. Jesus is still the answer. Whether you're a nobleman or whether you've made a mess of your life, you're all in need of a Savior. And Jesus came to seek and to save that which is lost. In John 4, one unnamed saint led a whole village to Jesus, pointed a whole village to where they could find the Lord. And then in Cana of Galilee, an unnamed nobleman led his whole house to believe. And then we get to chapter 5 and verse 1. And in chapter 5 and verse 1, you can read it with me here. It says, after this, We just heard that after these things in chapter 6 and verse 1. And then after this, there was a feast of the Jews and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. There is always going to be an after this. Always. We look forward to things. Children look forward to school coming to an end. And then for some, they look forward to going back to school. But for some, they don't. But there's always an end. There's always going to be an after this. We look forward to certain events. We look forward to certain seasons. But once they come and once they pass, there's always going to be an after this. When we get done with one church event, I rejoice over what the Lord did and how God would move in hearts, but I immediately set my heart on the next event, the next thing that God has for us. When we get done with one Sunday here at the church and everything's wrapped up and everything's locked up and the lights have been turned off, I'll take some time and just take everything in throughout the day, and rehearse in my mind, if you would, everything that took place that day, and give God the glory for all that He'd done, and I'll rejoice in everything that God did that day. But I immediately start looking to the next opportunity to serve the Lord. Why? Because I'm after this. Sunday's gone. It's done. We can't go back and change anything, but there's always an after this. There's always more opportunities to serve the Lord. I don't know about you, but I love his appearing. I'm looking for that blessed hope. I'm listening for that shout, for the voice of the archangel and the trump of God to sound out. But you know what? That's only going to last a split second. The twinkling of an eye, the Bible says. Hey, I look forward to that day, but you know what? There's going to be an after that too. I look forward to join that heavenly choir and singing in Revelations 512, worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing. There's always an after this or after these things and we see this in the Bible. Here we have a... We was at VBS here recently here at our church and It's the last day of VBS. We were loading the children up on the bus to take them home, and here come a person in need, a person just needing something. And as we were finishing up VBS, here comes somebody that had a need, and we was able to help that person. And then we went and dropped all the kids off. We come back, and here was another person standing there. I mean, after this, there's always something going on, something happening there. There's always an after this. In chapter 5, Jesus healed an impotent man by the pool named Bethesda. Bethesda means the house or place of mercy. Can I just say that this impotent man and all those who had gathered at this place, they were looking for one thing. They were looking for mercy. Oh, they could not heal themselves. They could not save themselves. They could not improve their condition except someone else intervene for them. Look with me here in John chapter 5 and verse 5. And it says, and a certain man was there which had an affirmative thirty and eight years. That's a long time to have been sick. When Jesus saw him lie, knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, saying, Sir, I have no man when the water is troubled to put me into the pool. But while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked. And on the same day was the sabbath. Well, as I was reading this passage, and I know this is kind of just a little side note here, but I said, man, what a good title for a message. When the owner came home. When mercy came to Bethesda. When mercy came to the house of mercy. I promise you, you can expect something to take place and something to happen there, and that may be a message for another time, but the Jews are going to come to this man who just made ho. and as he's walking and he's carrying his bed just like Jesus had told him to do, they're not going to rejoice over the fact that he was healed, but they want to know, hey, don't you... First of all, they said, don't you know that it's the Sabbath and you ought not to be carrying that bed? But then they wonder, who told you to do that? Who told you to take up thy bed and walk? These Jews are going to come to this man here and they're just going to point out the obvious of what they see, but immediately he's going to give his testimony. Because he don't know what else to do. Everything's just changed in his life and he's going to give his testimony. He answered them in verse 11. He said, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed and walk. I'm going to tell you, if somebody changes your life like that, you're going to follow what they say. Oh, the Jews, they did not care. Isn't it something? They did not care that this man was made whole. For 38 years, there was no man. Remember what he said? There was no man to help me there. Not a one of these people cared about that man. These religious people, they didn't care about a situation. They didn't care about anything about this man. They left him there. Nobody would help him. No man would help him. But you know what? They could care less that he had been made whole. They bypassed all that and they asked him, who told you? Who told you to take up thy bed? Over in Mark chapter 2 and verse 17, it says, When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick. I come not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. You know why they skipped over? You know why they skipped over the fact that this man had been made whole? It's because they fit the description of Mark chapter 2 and verse 16, 17. They thought they was alright. They didn't see themselves in need of anything. Why? Because they were religious. But Jesus came not to call those self-righteous. See, these Jews were self-righteous. They thought it was okay because they trusted in themselves. They trusted in their religion. But this man, he didn't know who healed him. But he gave the best description that he could. Then I like where Jesus found this man. Oh, it's very interesting where he finds this man. He found him in the temple. This man came to give thanks. This man had been waiting for 38 years for mercy. Oh, for mercy! For someone to intervene in his life and help him. You know where they found him? They found him in the temple to give thanks unto God. And Jesus told him. He said that he was made whole and gave him some directions for his new life. And immediately, what did this man do? This unnamed saint, he goes to the Jews and now he's going to make a public profession. It was Jesus. Jesus is the one that healed me. Jesus is the only one who could make a difference in my life. After that, what did the Jews do? They came after Jesus. They came after Him for healing a man on the Sabbath and then for calling himself equal with God. If you read that whole chapter there, Jesus is going to rebuke them and reprove these Jews. And then we get to chapter 6 in verse 1. And it says, and after these things... Now we know what he's talking about. After these things, Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias, and a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased. And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples. and the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh. When Jesus lifted up his eyes and saw a great company coming to him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? And this he said to prove him, for he himself knew what he would do. Philip answered him, Two hundred penny worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him, There is a lad here which have five barley loaves and two small fishes, but what are they among so many?" Hey, there's always going to be something on your schedule. Jesus went over. Remember, after these things, after such a busy schedule and busy time and all these things that are happening, after these things, then Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee. A great multitude followed Him there. He went up on the mountain. He sat down. The Passover was nigh at hand. Oh, what does that tell us? And the busyness of life. And in the busyness of the days that we're living in, may we be careful to not get so busy that we lose our focus as to why God has put us here. Jesus never lost sight of why He came. He came to seek and to save that which was lost. He came to do the will of the Father. Keep your place here and go to Matthew chapter 28. Matthew 28, Let's read, we call these the Great Commission verses, but Matthew 28 and verse 18. These are very important in relation to the story that we're getting into. It's very important to lay a foundation here. Matthew 28, 18, it says, And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. That's so important. You remember Jesus said He was proven, Philip? Well, He was proven Him. He said, hey, let's feed them. You know what he's trying to do? He's trying to get Philip to look to him. But Philip looked to himself. But what does God say here? And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. with everything that's going on in our lives, in the busyness of life, we cannot afford to lose sight of this command. Our great concern is and should be the Great Commission. Jesus never lost sight of this. Let's go back to John chapter 6 and you're going to see how all this is going to tie in. You see, the disciples concern in this story was focused on how they were going to feed that many people. They looked at the cost. Then they evaluated what they had and the answer was this. We don't have enough. And what we do have isn't much. But right here's the problem. They overlooked their greatest resource. That's why you can read Matthew chapter 28, verse 19 and 20, but you can't read them without verse 18. Because if not, you're going to find yourself, like the disciples said, how are we going to do this? How are we going to meet such great a need? How are we going to do this? Well, you better not forget about Matthew 28, 18. Everything that's going on, we can't afford to lose sight of this great command. Anytime we look to ourselves, can I just say, we're always going to come up short. But if we look to the one that said, all power is given unto me, then we'll always, always have a sufficient supply. The Bible says that Jesus proved them. Why? Why did He prove them? So that they'd look to Him. How are we going to take the bread of life into all the world? There is but one way and it's through His power. Philippians 4.13 says, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. We can get it done if we do it in His power, through His strength that strengthens us. last week golfer Bernard Langer, a German golfer who's been on the PGA Tour for many years, he won the senior US Open and he won his 46th PGA Tour victory. And when asked, after he won and was given the trophy, he was asked, how did you make it through this tournament? And this was his answer. Philippians 413. He said, I had a verse. And that verse stayed with me that whole week. He says, I can do all things, and he quoted the verse, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. I can promise you that's not what they wanted to hear. The world would have rather heard, well, my trainer helped me, my family helped me, or you know, it's just my environment, whatever it is. but he gave glory to God for what he was able to do. How are we going to take on more missionaries? How are we going to send them to the uttermost parts of the world? Through his power. How are we going to keep buses on the road? How are we going to keep the van on the road? How are we going to keep these gospel mailers going to house after house every week? Through his power. In this story, it wasn't the big names and the big shots whose faith accomplished anything in this story. But it was the faith of an unnamed little lad that made all the difference. How has this church here in Myrtle Beach kept going for the last 51 years? It's not because of the pastors, but it's because of the faith of unnamed saints who gave their lunches to Jesus. They were just all in. And they served God with their whole heart. In this story, there's one that's in charge. That's the Lord Jesus Christ. There's one that had the vision to feed this great company of people. That's the Lord Jesus Christ. But it was not the disciples' faith who got it done. It was the faith of an unnamed lad. But in order for the Lord to feed everyone, it did take the disciples in their place and being obedient. It may not be your faith that is going to get the job done. God may be proving you. God may still be teaching you a lesson on faith. But right here's the deal. You still need to be in your place. You still need to be where you can hear from the Lord and learn those lessons. The disciples, they overlooked the most valuable resource that they had. They looked at a little lad, but that little lad was looking at Jesus. They should have been looking to him. Jesus was working on the disciples and he was going to use this little lad to help bolster the disciples' faith. There was a young man and his wife and son who came to our church last Wednesday night and they gave a testimony how God has spoke to their hearts back in September of last year. They attended. They were on vacation on Sunday morning. They attended our missions revival. Didn't know that we was having that, but they came and they heard the preaching. They heard a missionary with Delight Thyself Ministries and Ms. Allison McKay. She was presenting that morning and talking about the gospel mailers that our church mails out weekly and that other churches mail out and she was promoting tracts and gospel mailers and things like God's put on her heart to do to help churches and things like that. But they were here and God spoke to their heart. And as they were going home, this man testified as he was going home, him and his wife began to talk about, hey, we could do that. We could mail out gospel mailers and try to reach our community for Christ. And you know what happened that day? They made themselves available to the Lord. They may not have had all the resources that they needed at the time. But you know what they did? What they did have, they made it available to the Lord. They made themselves first available to God. And what they had, they invested in the Lord's work. They ordered 7,500 gospel mailers. They said they had already mailed out 2,500. What were they doing? They were going to be used of the Lord to feed 7,500 people with the bread of life. How are they going to accomplish this? They said by their testimony that 5,000 gospel mailers were still sitting on their table. They had already mailed out 2,500 and they were just waiting on the Lord to be able to get the other 5,000 out. But you know what? We've already been there at this church. We've already seen God provide and God deliver and we've seen the results and we know what God can do through a gospel mailer and that it's His will to get the gospel out into every home and every community. And as he was testifying, God started pushing my buttons there and he began to work in my heart. And as soon as he was done testifying, I immediately presented what God had put on my heart to do to get the gospel out there where they're from and to get those 5,000 gospel mailers off of their table into hands of people in their community. I immediately brought it before the church. I said, hey, can we help them? I hear a motion. There went a hand. Can I hear a second? There went another hand. I said, all in favor, raise your hand and say aye. They did. Not a person went against it. Who are we? At that point, we're just the little unnamed lads. We're not a big name. We're not a big church. We're just a little church in a big city. But we're serving a great big God. Hey, you know where we were last Wednesday night? We were in our place where we needed to be where God could speak to our hearts and God could prove us. I'm glad I was here. I'm glad I was obedient. I'm glad I had my eyes on Him, the great provider. I'm sure that this couple left, they felt overwhelmed by what God had done for them. You see, the task is bigger than ourselves, but it's not bigger than our Lord. And He has all the resources to get it done. I wonder how that little boy felt. I'm sure that he was overwhelmed at what God did with his little lunch. Just think, a willing young man that just gave what he had and look what God did with it. You know, the disciples, the big shots there, you know what their response was? What is these among so many? What is that among so many? Five loaves and a few pieces of fish. Jesus just said, you wait and see. I'm going to show you what it's going to do. Look at verse 10 with me in John chapter 6. And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place, so the men sat down in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples. And the disciples to them that were sat down, and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. When they were filled, He said unto the disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten." Not only did Jesus feed everybody there, but to continue His lesson on faith for the disciples, He made sure that each one of the disciples had their baskets when they got done was still full when everyone else had ate. With Jesus. Can I just say there's always going to be more? There's always going to be more. All power's been given unto me. It's never ending. You'll never run out of resources doing the will of God. Why 12 baskets full? Some have said it's for the little boy who gave us lunch, and there could be application for that, that God will always take care. of us as we do His will. But you know what? These 12 baskets full, they represent a lot more than that. There was more than enough for whosoever these disciples could have went and found. The Bible says that there was towns around about there. They could have taken those baskets. And you know what? Them baskets would have just kept on a-going had they just took off with them. They could have even reached even more people. there'll always be opportunities for us to go further with God. Whether you find yourself in the disciples' shoes tonight, needing a lesson on faith. Or maybe you find yourself as this little unnamed lad's shoes tonight. Find yourself where he's at. Can I just remind you that God has need of you? God is not done with you. He's still working in us and through us. What Jesus said in Matthew 28. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Jesus has all power. He has all provisions that we need to accomplish the task that He has given to us. And not only that, He's promised His presence with us. We're not alone in this. Jesus was right there with the disciples as they handed out the bread and fish. We've got a missionary coming here this Sunday. Missionary Thomas Belcher going to Guam. He's been given a burden to reach the people of Guam with the gospel of Jesus Christ. You know what God would want for us to go with Him? He'd want for us to go with Him. Romans 1014 says, "...how then shall they call on him in whom they've not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they've not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach except they be sent? As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things." The title of tonight's message is, There is a Lad Here. There is a lad here. Could that be said of you? You're here physically, but are you available? Are you focused on the Lord? Are you focused on what he has for you to do? And is everything you have available to the Lord? The disciples were there. Five thousand men were there, plus women and children, but there was only one little lad. There was only one that was willing to give it all. so that God could use it and multiply it and many be reached. You see, God wants everybody to be involved, but He only needs one. He only needs one. Would you be the one?
