Foundation for Godliness

This Psalm is appropriate as the first Psalm in the Psaltery because it outlines the fundamental distinctions between the godly who are in communion with Yahweh, as opposed to the wicked who give little thought or allegiance to Yahweh. The "Law" here would indicate the entire Biblical revelation and to meditate means to devote one's life to thinking seriously and loyally about Yahweh and his law.
