He was Disobedient to the Heavenly Vision

"For the love of God is broader
Than the measures of man's mind..."
The book of Jonah is more than a story about a man and a big fish, it tells of how Jonah learned of the wideness of the love of God. In this first sermon on the book, we see how Jonah was disobedient, how he tried to run away from God, and yet how God went after him, and Jonah was at last delivered into the everlasting arms of God to find that while he had abandoned God, God had never abandoned him.
