For Their Sakes

Jesus pointed squarely at the ones the Father gave Him by sovereign election. On their behalf, He petitioned HIs Holy and Righteous Father (V11, 25) to sanctify them. Sanctification is a person or thing God sets apart and declares to be holy. God's elect are no more holy in themselves than the worst of sinners, yet they are sanctified. Here, they are set apart and preserved for faith and service to God. His prayer and God's keeping are our hope.
