Proof of life

"He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked" (1 Jn 2:6). In John's simple language, there is a claim made and a claim tested.

The claim made is of deep and enduring attachment to Jesus Christ, to have his life in us.

The claim is tested by whether or not we live as we ought in the light of that claim—that you yourself walk as Jesus walked through this world, in obedience to his heavenly Father.

And so the claim must be applied to us—whether or not we have this life, claim this life, or live this life.
