Where is Your Heart?

110 ( 39 | 71 )

Where is your heart? What do you love most?

The rich young man came running to Jesus and asked what he needed to do to be saved. Jesus loved this man, and He did the loving thing by pointing out the idol in his life and the one thing that was lacking. But the man went away sorrowful because he had great riches.

How much do we love our wealth? It's not that material wealth is evil in itself, but to love that stuff is to make an idol out of it. The mindset of Jesus' disciples when they thought of the Kingdom of God was something like the riches and plenty in the days of Solomon. But Jesus told them that they would have a hard time getting into that Kingdom with that mindset. It's like trying to put a camel through a needle's eye.

The disciples asked who can be saved then... and Jesus said it's impossible! You can't save yourself. But it is possible for the Lord to change someone's heart so they have something to actually live for besides worldly wealth.

Get ready to count the cost. What are you living for and working for? What things are keeping you from reading your Bible and praying? Be honest and evaluate your heart. Is Jesus Christ worth it? He loved you so much that He gave up everything for you to be a part of His Kingdom. WIll you count the cost for Him?
