The Manner Of Virtue - Part 6

17

Concerning the virtuous excellence of morality; the motif "areten" – (Greek) for "moral excellence, was expounded in question form: a) What is moral excellence? Descriptive of the nature, valued worth of what's to be supplied, in context – moral excellence. Descriptive of the quality of being and doing that which is marked by – principled integrity, God as the aimed at principal standard – of what's good, right and dignified. b) why, the need for moral excellence? Because i) moral excellence is ana expected virtue – by "supply"; its means – believers already possess this quality. This already serves as a reminder of God's gracious works of regeneration – Eph. 2v1 – 3 . And, as a reminder of God's transformative work of sanctification – Eph. 4v17 – 20. In order to harness this moral excellence in the morally decaying world, the believer's minds must be predisposed to truth, like the new born babes – I Pet. 2v1 – 3.
