75 Joseph in Potiphar's Prison
Series Genesis
The Lord was using his prison experiences as a time of preparation for the elevated level of leadership he had in store for Joseph. Joseph assumed the office of prime minister in Egypt at the age of thirty. David also became king of Israel at thirty (II Samuel 5: 4). The office of priest in Israel required the kohen (priest) to have reached the age of thirty (Numbers 4: 46-47). Finally the Lord Jesus began His ministry until when He reached the age of thirty. The Bible gives us the age of thirty as that of maturity and competence for the work God has for His chosen. The two men of this story were close to Pharaoh and were well aware of the nature of interpersonal relationships between the Hyksos and the high Egyptian court attendees. They also were aware of the political intrigue associated with high office and must have educated Joseph in the interworking’s of court, politics and high court offices.
