Fatherhood: More Than a Job

The Bible says it is a great blessing to find out that your children are grown and serving the Lord. But this is not the case in many instances. Some children will try to blame the parents for failing.

Not everybody can have a father like Job (Job 1:1-5)
some will have a father like Gideon's father (Judges 6:25)
But look how Gideon turned out (Judges 6:12)

Mother: Not everyone can have a mother like Timothy (2 Timothy 1:5; 2 Timothy 3:15
...some will have a mother like Asa's mother.
2 Chronicles 15:16
....and yet Asa turned out right serving the Lord. (2 Chronicles 14:2)
The family is the first institution established by God (Genesis 2:18-25)

Marriage is a picture of Christ and the church (Ephesians 5:23-24)

A good home atmosphere is commanded by God. (Colossians 3:18-20)

Children need to feel loved.
Children need to feel secure. This includes the security of knowing that mom and dad love each other.
Children need guided spiritually by word and example.
Children need to be taught right from wrong.
Children need their needs met. This includes spiritual, emotional, and physical needs.
