God's Sovereignty over Sin
Series The Doctrine of Sin
18
One of the most difficult questions in theology and philosophy is the problem of evil. Where does evil come from? If God is sovereign over all things and perfectly good, why does evil exist? If He allowed evil to exist does that mean He is not all-powerful, or worse, that He is not good? There are no easy or simple answers but there are good ones and bad ones. The Scriptures again provide us with an answer. This sermon moves from the reality of Jesus' rule and reign to a better understanding of God's goodness and the existence of evil. It is in the cross that we see most clearly the truth of God's goodness and power at the same time that we see sin in all its ugliness.
