Paul had left the Thessalonians abruptly and had been unable to return. He had to deal with his absence, because it raised questions about the sincerity of his love. Here Paul explained the circumstances of his prolonged absence and his reasons for sending Timothy to minister among them in his stead. In doing so, he teaches us about the necessity of gospel-centered relationships in the Christian life.
