Why Church? (Part 1)

When you study Acts you see that the early believers placed a great importance on meeting regularly together.

This sermon examines various scriptures which show us the importance of gathering together each week in church.

FIRST REASON: When you go to Church then you are a witness. When you are in Church on a Sunday, you are saying to others that there is something far more important on today than being with friends, than playing sport, than studying or earning money. When you are in Church, you are saying to a lost world that worshiping God and being with my brothers and sisters in Christ is of supreme importance to me.

SECOND REASON: That you should be in Church regularly is that we are called to Pray with others. Every Sunday we can do this together. Corporate prayer is important.

THIRD REASON: That you should be in Church regularly is that there is no present day organisation on earth that is more important than the Church.

Jesus didn't say He had come to build Universities. Jesus didn't say He had come to build Theological Colleges. Jesus didn't say that He would build the Government.
The Only institution that Jesus said He would build is the Church.
Jesus said He would build the Church. Matt 16:18 ..I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

FOURTH REASON: That you should be in Church regularly is that the Church is the only institution on earth that wages war against sin and supernatural wickedness with spiritual power. (Eph 6)

FIFTH REASON: For Church every Sunday is that throughout the ages, Spiritual gifts have been discovered, deployed and displayed.
