Servant Greatness

167 ( 71 | 96 )

Jesus told His disciples that whoever was to be the greatest needed to be the least, and to be like the youngest or the servant. The world's idea of greatness is totally the opposite, and people in charge frequently lord their power over those under them (as Herod and Nebuchadnezzar did). But in v. 27 of this passage, Jesus says "it is not this way with you." We are not to imitate the world, but to follow Christ's example of servanthood. He was the greatest of all, but associated with the lowly and poured Himself out for sinners. He was wholly devoted to the Father's Will.
