How to Be a Timothy

Timothy was humble, teachable, available, reliable (tested and proved), and useful. He became that way through a mentoring relationship. The preaching of the Word won’t have an effect on the hard, rocky, or weedy soil until someone gets down on the ground of that person’s heart and does some gardening. This requires spiritual father-type relationships. Take advantage of teaching, apprentice, partner, and friendship relationships in the church to accomplish this. Your example is only as good as your exposure.
