Acts 14:1-28 (Part 2); The Criteria for being a Church
Series Acts
Acts 14:1-28 (Part 2)
Introduction
Part 1: “The Cost of Being a Christian”, …all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. (2 Tim. 3:12)
II. The Criteria for Being a Church
A. Of the Faith
Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for THE Faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. (Jude 3-4)
…eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (Eph.) 4:3-6
I am not the center
I don’t have to figure everything out on my own (cf. 1 Tim. 3:15)
B. Overseen by Elders
…there is safety in a multitude of counselors. (Prov. 11:14)
C. Given Over to the Lord
