Genesis 38 - Preparing for Future Troubles

The consequences of Jacob's previous life, before salvation, still haunt him. In this lesson Reuben, his first born, displays public disdain for his father by sleeping with his concubine. This action tells everyone that he is ready to replace his father while his father is alive. This is an act of utter disrespect. To keep peace Jacob silently suffers this humiliation but he will have a plan in the form of Joseph.
