The final issue that Paul addresses is the Christian's thought life. For Christians to grow in likeness to Jesus, we have to have a renewed mind (Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 4:23). God has blessed his church with his word as a primary means of purifying our minds. Jesus prayed, "Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth" (John 17:17). What we think matters, and it matters more than we think it does.
