Smell Good to God

The Apostle Paul is addressing the Ephesians Christians and telling them what is expected of them. While works do not contribute to the salvation of any, they are still a necessary fruit of the Christian life. As the Heidelberg Catechism Q 86 says, '...why must we do good works?' The Answer replies 'Because we are redeemed by the blood of Christ and renewed by the Holy Spirit after His own image.' Ephesians 5 enlarges upon this truth. Our sanctification is sort of like spiritual hygiene.
