The "Faith"

With many reminders from Apostle Peter, in encouraging a Christlike virtuous character as highlighted in
verse 5 – 15 of II Peter 1, and principles that confirm the calling and God's gracious choice (1v10), is
faith. Faith that primarily motivates "growth in grace and knowledge of Christ" – 3v17 – 18. Thus, the
primacy of faith (v5a c.f. v1ff), the source, object and unity of it is revealed and exposited. Faith that
points to and revealing the sufficiency of Christ, His grace and peace (v2 – 4). Therefore, the saints
receive the privileges of saving faith (v3- 4); i.e. His divine power has granted to the redeemed
'everything pertaining to life and godliness through the true knowledge of Him…". Therefore; the
believer can be a conscientious Christian and grow in grace, if the faith once and for all handed down to
the saints– (Jude. 1v3), has been revealed to and embraced by the sinner saved by grace.
