The 69 Weeks of Daniel

Having been told that the prophecy concerning the Jews as a theocratic nation and Jews and Gentiles throughout the whole world would be fulfilled in 70 weeks, the angel now reveals to Daniel that all this would be accomplihed by a Messiah and that he wouuld come in 69 weeks, divided into two periods of unequal lengths. The temple and Jerusalem would be rebuilt in 7 weeks, and another 62 weeks until the coming of Messiah. The sermon has three points: 1) The fulfillment begins with a divine word or decree; 2) the fulfillment would be by a Messiah; and 3) There would be 69 weeks until Messiah comes. Application is made of each of these to encouage the saints to know that God will accomplish his word today in spite of many adversaries and the prevailing darkness about us.
