Hey, good morning, everyone. Welcome to another morning devotion
with Brother Mark, where we are walking together on our walk
with Christ. Today is May the 27th, 2024. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday to me. 59 years old today, 36th wedding
anniversary. 59, it's getting close to 60. That's starting to sound old.
But anyway, here we are. Good to be with you on this morning
devotion. And I think it was Athanasius
who said, our hearts are restless until we find our rest in thee.
And I want to talk about today, Philippians 4.7, I know it's
a passage of scripture that is familiar to us. And the peace
of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus. So yesterday I was talking about,
in my sermon, I was talking about promises of God that sustain
us during times of chaos. And I brought out a point, what
will it look like when you trust in God? And so I want you to
think about that. You're trusting in God, and that
passage of scripture says, and the peace of God, which passes
all understanding, shall keep our hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus. We face circumstances in life,
and our life is sometimes restless. We're anxious. We want God to
act now. It's difficult for us to be patient
and wait. We know the promises of God that
He's going to work all things together for good to them that
love God. We don't really understand in the moment how God is working
that out for our good. And because of that, we have
a restless heart. And like Athanasius said, our
hearts are restless until we find our rest in God. And so today I just want to encourage
you to find peace in the Lord, to find peace in God's wisdom,
to find peace in God's love for you, to find peace in God's providence,
to find peace, to find rest in God through Christ Jesus. It's because we are in Christ
Jesus that we can find that rest. I mean, you think about it. What
do we know if we're in Christ Jesus? We know that God loved
us. We know that he called us in
Christ Jesus before the world began. And so, we're one that
he has chosen before the foundation of the world. He's working in
us both to willing to do of his good pleasure. And so there should
be no doubt that God is for us and if God be for us, who can
be against us? And I know I'm throwing together
lots of scriptures today, but I just want you to find peace
today. So what does it look like when
you are trusting in God? The first thing it's going to
look like is that you have peace. You're going to find peace in
him. You're going to find rest in him. It doesn't mean you're
going to find the answer. That doesn't mean that you won't
have some anxiousness, but you're just going to rest in God. You're just going to run to Him
and rest. You're going to find peace in
Him. When you find that peace, pass
all understanding. It passes all understanding because
people don't understand how you can have peace. So the first
thing, what does it look like when you're trusting in God?
The first thing it's going to look like when you're trusting
in God is that you find peace. You find peace in your heart.
You're going to act in peace. Folks are going to notice your
peace. So you have peace. Let's pray. Today, God, I pray
for your people and I pray that you would give them peace. I
pray, Lord, that their restless hearts would find their rest
in you, that they can trust in your love for them, that they
can trust in your providence at work in their lives, and they
can trust that, Lord, you're working things together for their
good. So we thank you for these promises today, and I pray, Lord,
that today you would give rest, that you would give peace to
your people. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen. Enjoy the holiday. Eat a piece of birthday cake
for me. Until the next time, Brother Mark signing off.
