Revelation 20:1-3—Christ has Bound Satan!

I. The Binding of Satan (vv. 1-3a)
o Contextual Keys: key, the Dragon, bound, threw/cast

o The bigger picture (1:8; 3:7; 12:1-17; Heb. 2:14-15)
"And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. Or how can someone enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man?"—Mt. 12:27-29
"Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself."—Jn. 12:31-32

II. The Nature of the Binding (v. 3)
o That he might not deceive the nations (12:9-10; Ps. 2:8)
"the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth."—Rev. 12:9b

o We live in the age of un-deception (Acts 13:47; 14:16; 17:30)
"I am sending you [to the gentiles] to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me."—Acts 26:17-18

III. The Encouragement for the Church NOW!
o Things are not what they seem!

o Because Jesus reigns, the pressure is off you!
