Blessings Of The Peace Offering

33

After speaking about the sin offering, the trespass offering, the burnt offering and the grain offerings from the perspective of the priests, God then spoke about the peace offering. The peace offering is a picture of the blessings related to peace with God. The peace offerings are divided into two categories, those that are for thanksgiving and those that are either the result of a vow or that you feel compelled to give but is not required by the law. If it is a thanksgiving offering, it has to be offered with four types of bread, three unleavened and one leavened. One of each kind is heaved before the Lord and then the priests receive it. For the peace offering that is offered for thanksgiving all of it must be eaten the same day that it is offered, which means that the offerer has arranged for people to eat it before the Lord. None can be left until morning as a picture that being at peace with God means that you bless others. If the peace offering is about paying a vow or a voluntary offering (which means you believed it was necessary), then you should try to eat it the first day, but if not, it can be eaten the next day. On the third day, it must be burnt. If any is eaten, your vow is still considered unpaid. Those that can eat the peace offering are those who are clean, but if you are unclean and eat it, you must be cut off from the people. Declaring that you are blessed by God and at peace with Him, God takes seriously.
