All right, so be ready to hear,
be ready to look for a place where you can serve and to get
us started on topic tonight for our Vacation Bible School coming
up in just a few weeks. Let her rip back there, thank
you. As they say down in the coalfields, mash the button. The jungle out there! Every day,
our kids encounter questions about their faith. Did God create
everything? Was Noah's Ark real? Why do I
need to be saved? Can I really trust the Bible?
At The Great Jungle Journey, kids will explore the answers
to these questions and more as they embark on an epic adventure
from Genesis to Revelation. As your children sail along on
a fun jungle cruise, they'll stop at seven ports of call,
the seven seas of history. Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe,
Confusion, Christ, Cross, and Consummation. Kids will discover
how these events shape our world. And they will realize their need
for a savior as they reconnect the Bible to their everyday lives. Prepare to swing into fun on
the Great Jungle Journey! Let me hear it. All five of you
are ready for the great jungle journey. And we're gonna have
to do better than that class. We're gonna have some fun at
Vacation Bible School, amen? Everybody take your right hand,
put it in the air. Right hand in the air. Put your left hand,
put it in the air. Put your right hand in the air.
Put your left hand in the air. Oh, they're already there. How
about that? Okay, put them together and apart. And together and apart. and apart, together, and apart,
together, together, together, together, together, together,
together, together, together, together, together, together.
Thank you. Thank you. It's so good to be here with
you today. Hey, put them back together, collapse your hands
together, put them down your lap and keep them right there
until we tell you to move them from there. Hey, it's good to
be here. It's good to be able to share with you what's upcoming
in regards to the Vacation Bible School. Yes, it's two months
away, and I hope that you are already praying for them. We've
already given out the prayer cards. Are you already praying
for Vacation Bible School? Brother Jonathan in a little
bit is going to share the importance of that and how you can be a
great blessing towards that. And I'm here to introduce to
you the wonderful program that we've got before us, The Great
Jungle Journey. It is a cruise. So we're taking
a boat cruise through the jungle. It's a whole lot easier to take
a boat cruise than it is to walk through the jungle. So we're
going to boat cruise through it. And like I said, we're going
to seven ports of call. And on those different ports,
they're learning something different each day, each day. So we're
going from Genesis to the book of Revelation. and to those end
times and bring them all together so these boys and girls can hear
some truth that they haven't heard. There's some of them that
may come that didn't even know that God created the earth. let
alone the fact that Jesus came and bled and died for them so
they can have eternal life. So let's go and jump right on
in it. If you would go ahead, let's do a quick overview. Let
me show you the broad screen. Some of our leaders that are
helping with this. I'm going to call you out, leaders,
if you can help me by standing by that, teaching our juniors,
which is the older class, is Mr. Clay Bailey. If you go ahead
and stand for me, Mr. Clay, just stay right there for
me. I have Ms. Leslie Walker. Ms. Leslie is
in the back. Thank you. And I have Ms. Shirley. Keep standing. Keep standing.
Keep standing. Yeah. And Ms. Shirley Hawley. Ms. Shirley
is over there too. OK. So these are our teachers.
Our teachers are going to be taking care of the kids. Their
job is to teach, but they're going to need some help. Some
of these ladies are going to need help with someone doing
puppets. They're going to need help with someone doing Bible
verses. They're going to need to help corral them around. Brother
Bailey, he already knows what he's getting into. He already
has some good help that's already connected. Mrs. Bailey is going
to help with him and getting the kids from point A to point
B and in the classroom. But some of these have special
things with Bible verses they need help with. They go to many
other things. And so you see these teachers,
if you can help a teacher, go see them and then tell me who
you're going to be working with and that'll be great. Some that
we're going to go ahead and appoint, but let me know if you're going
to be able to participate and help with that. Teachers, thank
you and please be seated. And Brother Matt Porter, if you'll
stand. Ms. Linda Bartlett I think is in
the back, but Ms. Linda Van Horn doesn't know it
yet, but you're going to be helping Ms. Linda Bartlett with the crafts
again. Can you go ahead and stand for
me? And in the back room is, oh goodness, my mind is going
blank. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mrs. Parsons is in the back. Had to
get all these all together. Maddie, you're going to be helping
part of the play. And that's what you're part of,
yeah. And so Mrs. Parsons is going to be over the
snacks. She's going to be handling the snack, the cantina and all
that. Keep standing, keep standing. Your legs ain't broke. You broke
them? Anyways, so these folks are going
to need some help in regards to the three wheel that we have
from food, to games, to the crafts, and they'll need help in getting
the supplies together and just even corralling the kids and
having all together. So we need your help in that
area as well. Thank you. So you know who's
a part of these things. Sit down, Matt. I told you to
sit down. So we have all these wonderful things to have. You
always have one of those kids in the crowd. But we're going
to have a good time, and they're going to be able to go to these
four different things. So they have a teaching time, they have
a craft time, they'll have a snack time, and they will have a game
time. And with all those four different
things, they also have an assembly time. When they first come in,
we'll work on a few different things, getting them started
for the day for that. And then after their four wheels,
they come back in here again, and we have a wonderful skit
for them. It's put on by several of our church folks. They've
already been meeting. They already have their scripts.
They're already working on them. And so just stay on those things
and thank you for volunteering to do that or voluntold to do
that. Either way, but you're going
to be, we're going to have a great time because it's really important.
We're going to have some boys and girls here that are lost
that need Jesus. I didn't think about this, but
who would raise their hand and say, Pastor Tim, I got saved
at a vacation Bible school years ago. I got saved at a vacation
Bible school. So if God can reach these folks,
we want them, God can reach the kids today as well. And we want
to get them into an environment to where they can get that going.
So let's look at some of the things that's going to happen
to them each day. So on day number one, we're going through creation.
Creation, in the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.
And we can see just below where it says lesson focus, examining
how it all began, man's ideas or God's word. God created man
and woman. When we got into some of the
teachings and we went to Kentucky just recently where this was
unveiled, we were able to learn. Well, they want us also to focus
on who did God create in this? God created a man and God created
a woman. Do our boys and girls need to
understand that there is a man and that there is a woman and
that a man is supposed to stay a man and that a woman is supposed
to stay a woman? that God created, that God has
a purpose. God didn't make things messed
up. We did. So we're looking at creation. God created, God has purpose
and plan. And so they also going to have
it come over to the left, a craft or science, something they'd
be able to make each day. Next to that, desserts. I love
it. We talked about this just a while
ago about having dirt for dessert. There it is, dirt, dessert, and
then a forest fruit. In my opinion, I'd rather have
the dirt. Amen. than the forest fruit, but they'll
have some games they'll be able to play, and then they'll have
other events as they go into their circle. Let's go to Tuesday.
So the next day, Tuesday, they're going through Genesis chapter
3, 6 and 9, talking about corruption and catastrophe. Somebody help
me, class. What was the corruption? Sin
entered into the world. Sin entered the world. We're
going to have a little hand motion sing along here in a little bit.
And we're showing Adam eating a fruit. That is the picture
of the corruption. What was the catastrophe? The
flood, absolutely. So we're walking through the
scriptures. So they're learning about what sin is and then what
sin does and it corrupts. And so we see the flood and see
what they make. They make a straw serpent. Back
to serpents again. Folks really like those things.
Some don't. Anyways, and then I don't know
what the rainy day catcher gauge is, but that's going to be a
nice, nice little thing with some other little gifts. And
then the serpent snack. Preacher, that's a donut. just
to let you know. It's a full donut cut in half
and spun so it makes it look like the yes. Then they took
donut holes and they cut the donut hole in half. There's a
half a donut hole for the head and the other half for the tail.
You can probably pinch the tail a little bit, make it look a
little bit more like a tail, but there it is. That's a snake.
Then they took some carrots and they sliced, no, licorice, red
licorice, and they cut the little red licorice till it forks out
like a tongue, and then they stick that in, and they put little
M&Ms for the eyes. So it's a cute little thing.
The tree there, and some memory verses, some other special games
that they have there. Let's go to the next day as I
continue and hurry. Genesis 11, the confusion. What
was the big confusion that happened in our Bible? The tower of Babel
kicked in and God brought confusion unto them. And that's what sin
will do, it brings us confusion. And then examining where people
groups come from. Where do people groups come from?
One, Adam. So we are all one. And then everybody
comes from Noah. Again, from Noah. So we are one.
Whether red and yellow, black and white, they are precious
in this sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.
Amen. We want everybody to know that
Jesus loves us all. And then we have, I'm not sure
what the tricky triangle game is. Looks like it's fun. A toothpick
tower, which I think is pretzels and marshmallows stuck together
and building it as high as they can on their plate. Shades of
pudding parfait. I like the pudding. And then
a wacky mixed up trail fruit. I like the mixy, wacky, fruit. Yeah, all that's all in there.
And some more games. And then it has some cool contests. Can anybody read where it says
cool contest, what that says? It means, yeah, something like
that. It's Backwards Day. Backwards. That's what that says, Backwards
Day, backwards. What does that mean? Well, it
could be anything you want to. My dad used to have Backwards
Day on his bus when he ran a bus route, and he had everybody put
their clothes on backwards. And not only did they put their
clothes on backwards everywhere they went, they walked backwards.
And whatever they did for church was, with their Sunday school
children's church, they did that backwards. And so they just had
a great backwards day. So that's day number three. Number
four. Now, we're covering Christ and the cross. It's various scriptures.
That's all through the scriptures, talking about Jesus and then
talking about Calvary in that lesson and examining the need
for a Savior. And so then we have the craft
that they'll make, a diorama of Easter, the resurrection,
and then they have the gospel goodies and the nativity Niblets. Yeah, that's it. Nibbles. And
then more Bible verses to catch and then some games and other
cool contests that are there. Now for the last day. Number
five, going now to Revelation 21 and 22. And we just kind of
went through that in our Sunday school class, did we not? If
you were in Sunday school class, can I encourage you to be in
Sunday school class? You can learn some wonderful things in Sunday school
class. And we talked about the second coming of the Lord, 21,
22, and that's what we'll do, the consummation, when everything
is made new and examining how it turns out in the end is what
we're talking about. And then so we got some beautiful
bracelets and all this cycling in the jungle, seven seas boat,
which has got a little bit of everything. mixed into that and
then some beautiful colorful bites you can read that and then
we're just kind of bringing things back around. Now as this is going
on we're still having in here the opening assembly and we're
talking about some biblical truths laying the foundation for the
teachers and the teachers have their lesson and everything is
coordinated as you saw on the first page together to point
all the way down. Repetition gets it in there.
So we want to continue to help the repetition to come in about
this great jungle journey, about the scriptures, about the seven
C's, the C's of life. Consummation is the last one.
So then on the last day, we're going to ask the parents to come.
And we'll have the parents to be here the family night and
have them come. We'll have something special for them like we did
last time. We have pastor teach a class
for the parents if that works out and have everybody all together.
Let the parents go to the different cycles as well. Let them play
the game. Let them make a craft. Let them
eat the snack and see what their children have been going through.
And then they all come in here. And we'll have the last day of
the play, and the play closes, I mean, with a great presentation
of the gospel. And then definitely our pastor
will come up right behind that and give the gospel in an altar
call. And we'll have folks stationed, and we'll get cards, and we'll
get names. We'll make sure that everybody that raised their hand,
we can follow up on. And so it's just a wonderful
thing we need to go into. So that's what they're going
through. That's the five day review. And I just want to make
sure you see all those. Now, if you can help me, can
you take, can you stand up for me? Because I want you to learn
a song. Can you stand up for me? This
has some little hand gestures to it. Kind of keeps the kids
busy. Kind of keeps us awake too. Amen. How many of you worked
all day? Hands go up. How many of you
are ready to go to bed already? Hands go up. Not in here. Definitely
not tonight. And definitely not during vacation
Bible school. All right. So take your, whatever
this side, your left, my right, and put it on your hip. Take
the other one and put it on your hip. Take your left hand and
do this with it. Like you're moving jungle stuff
away. You're moving jungle stuff away.
And then you put your hand back on your hip, and your hand back
on your hip, and then you march in place. You just now have done
90% of the song, okay? That's all the hand motions.
So here's a song, it's called The Great Jungle Journey. See the little girl? She's marching in place. She
looks like Darby. Here we go. The great jungle journey, we
forage through the woods. From Genesis to Revelation, see
God's design. The great jungle journey, we
keep our feet in stride. The great jungle journey, with
Jesus as our guide. Creation! He made the world! Corruption! We fell in sin! Catastrophe! Confusion! What
a mess! Christ and the cross! He came to save us! Conservation! He will make all
things new! The great job, the journey, we
forage through the night. From Genesis to Revelation, see
God's design. The great job, the journey, we
keep our feet inside. It's Jesus as our guide. Great Jungle Journey, wonderful
song. So we'll teach songs like that to the children and we'll
build upon them every night and they'll get more and more. There's
a beautiful one that I want to sing. It's a hymn. We'll try
to teach it to them. And then the last night, if we
can get the kids to come forward and sing it to the parents, wouldn't
that be cool? We're going to give it our best
shot. How about that? We're going to give it our best
shot. But we need help. We need everybody's help, crowding
them in, participating in it, getting excited in it. And so
tonight, Brother, Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Brother Samples
in the back, he has a clipboard. And Brother Danny has a clipboard.
And if you've already signed up, great. But I need you to
sign up again, if you can help me. Just go and sign up again.
The reason why I'm doing that, ain't this a cool T-shirt? Ain't
that cool? Have you seen the back? next
to seven C's with the wheel on it, you can have one for just
$10. Just sign up and give me the
cash or write a check or grab a green slip. All goes to the
church so that we can recoup that amount. Workers love you
to have one and to be able to do that, but it's $10. So I need
your sizes. and your cash, but I need your
sizes. And I need to know if you've already signed up or not
signed up, go ahead and get the clipboard, sign up, give me your
number, tell me what area that you would like to work in if
you haven't already done so, and then give me your size. If
you give me your size, that tells me you want a T-shirt. Okay. And so I'll be ordering them
within two weeks. So I need to have everything
to help recoup that when the time comes. So get that T-shirt.
Now, let me introduce you to some creatures. Now, what we
do as the program goes in the morning and afternoon, sorry,
not in the morning, we start at 630 at night and we end at
830 at night. But we have a creature that we
introduce. Each creature has a special trait that goes with
that day. I won't tell you what days those
are, but I'll let you meet the creatures. So we have a beautiful
jungle butterfly. And I think that's, yeah, it's
bliss. And then the next. Ta-da, there
she comes. That's Rose, the pink dolphin. Hi, Rose. Oh, hey. Then we have the poisonous dart
frog named Toxic. Yeah. Yeah. Then we have scatter. Notice he's all by himself and
his people are running away from him because they scatter. And then we have Eden. Garden
of Eden. Isn't that a pretty bird? So
those are the five animals that they'll be learning about. We'll
have them plastered at different places around the property just
to make it colorful. Now, in doing that, we also need
other decorations. So I've got some thoughts in
mind, but I want to show you what I have in mind for the stage.
to look like that. So that's my goal, to make this
look similar to that. So we'll have a trading post
in the back left. You see that red and white? That's
a boat, some trees. A lot of this we have been able
to purchase. It just needs to be mounted.
Next slide. And so I need some helpers in the building industry
or building skills to be able to put some strips together so
that we can build a rooftop, we can have a door in the front
and just different things that to make this happen and not just
be a piece of paper, but it's kind of got some 3D aspect to
it too, has some depth to it. And so we have this, we have
the boat. This one here is propped down with sandbags by legs. The
boat, I'd like to have some sandbags, but I want wheels. So I need
to get some wheels. So boats don't stay still, do
they? We're on a cruise, so that boat moves. We ought to move
that boat left and right when we come into port. And not only
would this room be decorated, but the other rooms need to be
decorated. So as we have an opportunity, we're going to start putting,
need help all the way around. So, well, Brother Holtzclaw,
you know, I just can't get around a whole lot. Well, if I gave
you some items at home and you had little Ziploc baggies, could
you fill the Ziploc baggies with things? that we can give to the
kids, something that we can do way in advance and get that taken
care of. Maybe, you know, if you're just
someone that just doesn't get out, I can't deal with kids,
you know, can you make something for me? Can you help me with
decorations? We'll have a couple of special work days. We're going
to decorate the auditorium, kind of like we did last year. We're
going to turn this hallway that goes up and we're going to close
off the exterior doors and so that you'd have to be able to
come from the West Wing where they check in at, come down the
hallway and come into here. Now, when you got a jungle journey,
guess where you have to walk through first? A jungle. Guess what we need to make? Huh? Jungle. We've got to make a jungle. So we've got to have things hanging
from the ceiling. We've got to have things draping
and covering the walls and make it look like a jungle. When I
have them walk in there, we'll be playing a little music, kind
of like what we had at the countdown, have some jungle sounds added
to that. Maybe we have some teenagers
hiding behind the curtain going. Or. Whatever the case may be. And so we can have them all.
I'll just have recordings for that. But can you picture the
fun? Can you see all this happening?
Can you see them walking in and just their eyes is getting big
and walking in and want to participate. They want to be a part of it
and they want to be enjoy of it. And workers start thinking
now of what kind of jungle tour guide outfit that you can get.
and be able to have for that as we are tour guides on this
jungle cruise for the boys and girls that are going to be with
us coming up in just four weeks. Just four weeks, we have a lot
of things that we've got to get done and I need your help. And
little by little, I'll be making the phone calls. Little by little,
we'll be making the announcements. Little by little, we'll be gathering
everything together. I have some things in, but I
need more things. One of the things that I could
use right now is big boxes. Big boxes. If anybody has a connection
to refrigerator-sized boxes, I could use some big boxes like
that. Big boxes, or some that we can kind of tape together.
These, as you can see, the panels there, they're stapled on, but
some of them are freestanding, and if I can put them on cardboard,
that'll make them stiffer, and it'll make them last a little
bit longer, as we can keep them for a little bit. And we're also
sharing. We're sharing it with some other
churches, some things that are coming in, some of our things
are going out because they're having the same program we are,
about the same time, just a different week. So we're trying to see
how we can be a blessing to others as well as we're being creative.
I don't know about you. I love creative minds. I love
being around creative people, using their hands to make something,
though it may be small, can stretch it out to be something really
big and be really beautiful. Now, to be a great encouragement
to you, I asked Brother Jonathan if he'd come, and if he'd come
and share something from his heart as a Bible devotion for
tonight in light of The Jungle Journey. Thank you. Open your Bibles with me, if
you will, to 1 Thessalonians 1. 1 Thessalonians 1. As I begin to think after Pastor
Holtzclaw asked me to do this about what the Lord would have
me to give for this meeting tonight. How many of you all know that
the Bible doesn't talk about VBS, right? But the Bible gives
us some wonderful principles that I think we can apply to
VBS and being VBS workers. And the Lord began to give me
some thoughts from... 1 Thessalonians chapter 1 that
I believe will be a help to us and an encouragement. But while
you're turning, I want to answer two introductory questions for
you and I tonight. There's a couple of questions
that we need to ask. Why VBS and why get involved? Why should we have a VBS? And
Pastor Jonathan, why do I need to get involved? Why do I need
to help out with this? Well, I believe there's a four-fold
reason to be involved in VBS, okay? Number one, quickly, to
show kids the love of Christ. Show kids the love of Christ.
You know, the love that we show them at VBS may be the only love
that they receive that week. You never know. You don't know
what their home situation is like. You don't know what their
school situation is like. You don't know if they're getting
bullied. You don't know how their parents feel about them. And
the love that they see from you and I at VBS could be the only
love that they receive all week. No particular order here, but
moving on to share the gospel. Number two, to share the gospel. VBS is a great way to get community
kids on our property so that we can share the gospel with
them. and reach them with the gospel
of Jesus Christ. So to show kids the love of Christ,
to share the gospel, to see families added to the church. That family
night that Pastor Holzclaw mentioned there on Friday and the information
that we're going to be getting from these kids, the addresses
and all of these things, we can use this as a way to connect
with not just the kids but the parents as well and to connect
with families and to see them saved and potentially added to
the church. And last but not least, hey,
have fun, right? Because VBS is a blast. VBS is
so much fun and I think I have...my times that I have been involved
in VBS, I think I've enjoyed it more working in it as an adult
than I ever did as a kid, participating. Alright? So even adults can have
some fun in this. And it's a great opportunity
for you and I as adults to let out our inner child and to get
together as a church family and have an absolute blast for the
cause of Christ. Okay? Maybe you're sitting here
and you say, Pastor Jonathan, I am all in. I am excited. I'm ready. I want to be involved.
But how can I be a good VBS worker? How do I be a good VBS worker? Well, I believe there's three
things given to us in our text here that help us in knowing
how to be a good VBS worker. So let's look at it. 1 Thessalonians
1, verse number three, the Bible says this, remembering that without
ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of
hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father. So number one, what does it take
to be a good VBS worker? It takes faith. Takes faith. Faith in what? Well, faith in
our leadership. Takes faith in our leadership,
in our pastor, and in our VBS director, Pastor Olds Claw. Notice
that the verse says, work of faith. Hey, VBS is going to require
lots of work. There's a lot of effort and there's
a lot of work and time that goes into it. But if we'll have faith
in the leadership, that work will be easier and more enjoyable. We may not understand or agree
with every single decision that is made. If we will follow our
pastor and our VBS director as they follow Christ, then all
will work out to the glory and honor of God. Okay? Because we
have confidence and we know that our pastor, our VBS director...
are trying to follow Christ in this and are trying to do what
God would have them to do, okay? So if we'll follow them as they
follow Christ, then all is going to work out just great. So faith
in the leadership. Next, what does it take? Faith
in God. Faith in God. That he'll bring the kids in
and that he will touch hearts with the gospel. And that lives
will be changed for his glory and his honor. So we are going
to do our part. We're going to promote this thing.
Right? We're going to get the Word out. We're going to pray.
I hope we've already been praying. We've got the cards. I hope that
we're praying already, even now for VBS. And we're going to do
that. We're going to plant seeds of the gospel in our lesson time
and in our skit time. But at the end of the day, we
must trust God to provide the results. Some of us will plant
and some of us will water, but ultimately it is God that gives
the increased. So it takes faith in God that
he will do a work in hearts. It takes faith in the curriculum.
Faith in the curriculum. How can we have faith in our
curriculum? How can we have faith and confidence
in what we're teaching these kids? Well, because we know that
it's the Word of God. We're teaching them the Bible.
We're teaching them the Word of God, and that's key. That's the most
important thing, is we're not teaching them the opinions of
man. We're not...we're not teaching them what Dr. Smell Fungus says
down the road. No, no, we're teaching them the
Word of God, what the Bible says. And we can have confidence in
the fact that it is very professionally produced package and prepared
for us by Answers in Genesis which most of you know of the
Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum. Answers in Genesis are
the people that run these things and they're so wonderful and
so helpful to us. And they have provided and packaged
and produced this material for us so that we can take and present
it to the children in a way that will be enjoyable and easy for
them to grasp. So it takes faith. But next,
the verse says, labor of love. So it takes love. It takes love.
It takes a love for God. It takes a love for the kids
and it takes a love for each other. As we strive to love God,
his love will emanate from us to the kids and also to each
other. It is much easier to work for
something that we love, and it is my prayer for each and every
one of us that God will place in us a deep-seated love for
this work and this ministry of VBS and allow his love to radiate
through us. It takes faith. It takes love. Notice the next thing that Paul
says here in the verse. And patience of hope. Hey, if
you want to be a good VBS worker, it takes patience. It takes patience. Patience with the work. Patience
with our leadership. Patience with each other as volunteers
and workers. Patience with the children. As
they're running around and not listening and being loud and
being rowdy and not doing what you said, hey, it's going to
take some patience through every step and stage of this process.
No doubt, as we strive to put on the best VBS that we can possibly
do, we will run into moments of frustration, of confusion,
of misunderstandings, and much more. But in these moments, we
must have patience and long-suffering, and we will be able to get past
those moments as a godly Christian team of staff and volunteers. Patience. So in conclusion, What does it take to be a good
VBS volunteer? It takes faith. You've got to have the faith
that God's going to bring the increase in the leadership, in
the curriculum. It takes love, love for God,
love for the children, love for VBS, love for each other as volunteers. It's going to take patience with
each other, with the children, with our leadership. Nobody's
perfect, right? Maybe, just maybe, I know this
is hard to believe, but just maybe Pastor Tim makes a mistake.
And something doesn't go exactly the way he said it would, right?
Well, that's where patience kicks in. We've got to have patience
with our leadership, with each other, with the children. If
we will implement these things in our lives, we will have a
successful VBS, knowing that our labor is not in vain in the
Lord. Why? Because we are doing it
to see souls saved and lives changed for His glory and His
honor. And really, that takes us to
the motivation. That takes us to the true motivation
of all. Look at the rest of the verse.
Patience of hope, hope, expectation, expectation. We can expect great
things because we're expecting God to do them in our Lord Jesus
Christ, in the sight of God and our Father. So the real motivation
is not to put ourselves on a pedestal, not so we can get a pat on the
back, not so we can look good, but our real motivation is to
give God glory and honor. and for the truth of God and
the word of God to get planted into the heart of these children.
So I hope that we will all be involved in VBS. If not in the
program itself, then in prayer. We should all be praying, the
whole church, everybody, we should all be praying for VBS. And I
know many of us will be involved in decorating and all of these
other things that Pastor Holz-Clau has talked about tonight. But
whether we're involved in VBS or whatever else we may be involved
in, these principles still apply. So I hope that all of us, whatever
we do, whatever ministry God has given us to do, I hope that
all of us will apply these principles to our lives and trust God to
bring about the result that we are looking for. So I'm ready to go. Are you ready
to go? I got my pen ready. I'm ready to sign. I'm ready
to put my name, put my T-shirt size on there. Amen. I'm all
ready to go by that. And I hope that you're good to
go with that. And I have one more thing. It's a nice little
recruitment video. It just wraps everything all
together. We do need you. We do need your help. The more
that we're working together, whether it is working with the
kids, whether it's putting stuff together or building something,
or even just being at home and praying, We need you. We need
everyone involved and have been involved in seeing people saved
for the Lord Jesus Christ. So will you help us? Will you
join us? you you
