Hello, children. Welcome to Spring Branch Academy, where we are seeking to instill wisdom and inspire worship in every student to the glory of God. We've been looking at God's attributes. God is great. God is good. His greatness in time and space, his greatness in knowledge and power, his sovereignty. And last week, we considered his goodness God is both infinite and personal, children. That's what makes him utterly unique and different than us and different than all the creatures that he made. His otherness is called his holiness. To be holy is to be in a category all by yourself. God alone is holy. Everything else is created and has that in common. He alone is uncreated. He is the I Am. He has no needs. And as such, when He does good, He does it freely, not because He tries to get anything that He needs out of us. And so, God is utterly unique in His holiness. There are three categories. There's holy and clean, or common. Same thing, different words. And then there's unclean. You can move from being holy to being common, that's to profane something. And then you can move from being common to being unclean, that's to pollute or defile something. Or you can then cleanse it and bring it back to common. Or you can then sanctify it, set it apart for God and hallow it or make it holy. And so, Christians are saints. They are set apart for God. They are not different because of who they are in themselves. They are different because of their association with God. To be holy is to belong to God. And so, we want to be holy, if you're a Christian, in all our behavior. It's commanded of us. so that every aspect of our lives is set apart for God and used to bring him glory. Therefore, we want to sanctify all clean things, giving thanks to them and doing them for the glory of God, whether we eat or drink or whatever we do. And so the attribute of God's holiness is exquisite. It's what makes God, God. Perhaps that's the reason why he is called holy, holy, holy, the only attribute that's repeated three times in Scripture. Well, in language, we're in rhetoric, and we saw the three means of persuasion last week of ethos and pathos and logos, where now this week we're looking at the five canons of rhetoric, These are very famous and you should memorize them. Invention, arrangement, style, memory, delivery. Invention is when you sit down with a blank sheet of paper and you just brainstorm. You pray and you jot down ideas and pretty soon this idea connects with that idea and you get little clusters of ideas. When you're making a speech, this is where it begins and it's good to begin days in advance and keep collecting those thoughts as God gives them. Arrangement is when you ponder how best to present them, what order to present them. It is good to start with your audience and then move into your argument and then end with your audience, persuading them to action. That's a general outline of order. And then within there, you would qualify, you would clarify, you would meet objections, you would illustrate. The style is dressing it up. What ornamentation? Are we going to make it forceful? Are we going to make it beautiful? Memory is you should know it well enough so that you're not just glued to the page reading it with no emphasis because you don't remember what it says. So even if you don't completely memorize your speech, you would want to be familiar with it so that you can look at your audience and not just have your eyes on a piece of paper. Delivery is your, is your gestures, your voice inflections. You can raise your voice or lower it. You can make it go fast or slow. You may go loud or soft. All those are part of delivery. I personally really enjoy rhetoric and I hope you will come to enjoy many aspects of rhetoric too. because we use rhetoric all the time in seeking to persuade others in one-on-one conversation. In Scripture, the sanctity of marriage, the success of youth, and the salvation of sinners is what is the topic for today. They all pertain to being pure with our body and keeping it pure for marriage, for the husband and the wife, or the wife that we will have someday. Once we're married Jesus says whom there what therefore God has joined together. Let no man separate This would be mark 10 9 What therefore God has joined together let no man separate God's the one that puts a husband and wife together in marriage and they don't have the right then to break it apart Now unless God were to say The success of youth. Flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. You run away from something and you run to something. Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2.22. A lot of twos in that reference. And this one is very serious for our day when people want to allow all sorts of wicked individuals into heaven, but they need to be saved in order to enter heaven. So listen to the Apostle Paul speak on this matter. Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you. but you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the spirit of our God. Praise be to God, he washes and makes holy, sanctifies and justifies, declares righteous because Jesus died for their sins. Anybody who comes to him through Christ. And so we are not defined by our past if we are a Christian. And the Romans road is a great testimony to that as well. And the highlight of the verse this week is Romans 5, 8, but God demonstrates his own love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Children, I want you to remember, God already demonstrated his love for us. If He did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not with Him freely give us all things? And so He demonstrated He truly loves us. So when you go through a trial and when you suffer and are afflicted, I want you to think, God already proved to me He loves me, so I can trust Him even though my life right now would suggest He doesn't love me. He's testing your faith. Believe in Him and grow, and you'll become stronger by His Spirit. In Proverbs, we have an interesting little verse. An honest answer is a friendly kiss. In that culture, you would clasp, you would grab somebody by the shoulders, a good friend, and then you would kiss the right cheek and then kiss the left cheek. This is the reason why Jesus says, turn the other cheek, offer another cheek of friendship. Our culture hugs or shakes hands. They would give this kiss. But it's just a sign of friendship. What it means is that a direct, honest answer is friendly. It shows that we have an open relationship. And so talk plainly with your parents, your friends, those who love you. Proverb number 28. Outside, outside, outside first. Build your house after your work. Outside, outside, outside first. Build your house after your work. It is wise to not start a family until your work is in place. This would be a great and wise criterion for those seeking to get married. Men seeking to get married need to ask, am I in a place to take on a family and support them? If not, what do I need to do to get to that point? In math, We learned the coordinate axes last time, X and Y axis. The X is horizontal, the Y is vertical. And we found out that like a ladder, you would move a ladder sideways and then go up the ladder. The X is first, go right or left, and then go up to the Y point. It's an XY point or coordinate. The other way to specify that coordinate would be, what is the distance from the origin, the center, where the two axes meet? And then what angle is it off of the x-axis? So you go, it's kind of like shooting a gun. You would point it at a certain angle and then you would say, how far should you go? And that is another way to locate a point. That is called polar coordinates. No, not that kind of polar. The divisibility rules. A number is divisible by two if the number is even. A number is divisible by three if the sum of the digits is divisible by three. The digits are the individual numerals that are set side by side in a number. A number is divisible by 4 if the last two digits are divisible by 4 or if it ends with 00. A number is divisible by 5 if the number ends in 5 or 0. That's one of the easy ones. Well, the rest of our lesson today is just review. In science, We're reviewing the beginning overview of science and then we're reviewing biology. The PDF or the handout that's a little button on Sermon Audio has all the questions that your mom or dad can go over with you. And so I want you to look at those questions and review what you learned this year. Or if you're not ready yet this year, then we'll do the same science questions, Lord willing, next year. And so you can review it then. In Geography and Chronology, I'm going to make a little audio that has the first, I think, ten lessons. Remember how we did 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 10, and 12, 40, 70. Tell the story well. So I have all of them, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 10, 12, 40, and 70. I will record them for you shortly. And then in history, we're also going to make a recording of the Bible timeline, which has seven parts to it or seven stanzas. So Lord bless you children. It's been a good year with you. We still have two more weeks to go. And so you can start reviewing some of these others. Look for those audios. And so God bless you. Amen.
