Oldest Child Syndrome Dangers

The eldest child within a family tends to be more of a perfectionist and normally more self confident than siblings, for obvious reasons.

The eldest child normally likes to be a leader but if they are to follow Christ, they must be led by Him and learn to serve by grace.

The Lord Jesus himself sheds light on this, in Luke 22:26 - "but he that is greatest among you, let him be as THE YOUNGER; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.

Elder children therefore need to know that it is not enough to just be dutiful, they must be Born Again in Christ and come to saving faith by Grace and not works.
