His Face Set for Jerusalem

The "travel log" of Luke's gospel presents Jesus from 9:51 on as having his "face set like a flint" for Jerusalem as he made his way through Judea toward the holy city. He was eager and resolute that he might complete the mission the Father had sent him on: to die for the sins of his people on Calvary's cross. It was this resoluteness of Christ that led to the accomplishment of his redemptive work in our behalf.
