Appointed unto Salvation through Afflictions and Encouraged by God's Truth about Them

How and why was Timothy sent to establish and encourage the Thessalonians' faith? In these four verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that truth about afflictions strengthens real faith, whereas lies about easiness fosters unbelief. The God Who appointed us unto faith and salvation through faith has appointed unto us the afflictions through which come at last into that salvation.
