The Value of a Dowry

In this Thursday evening lesson, Bro. Jade Lazaruis teaches on the subject of the biblical dowry, the payment that a young man makes to the father of the young woman he wants to marry. After looking at the significance of David being expected to give a dowry to King Saul, we look at the principle itself. Then, we look at how the dowry implies the need for early financial preparation for marriage, it prevents promiscuity, it illustrates the value of raising godly children, and it implies simultaneous leaving and cleaving. Then, in closing, we see that, although the biblical dowry is a forgotten biblical concept, it is still a wise and biblical practice, and it is still important that we prepare properly for marriage.
