The Word of Forgiveness

36

As a general rule, human forgiveness is a matter
of leniency or laxity.

We mean that forgiveness is shown as at the expense
of justice and righteousness.

But God's forgiveness is not that way.

God would not exercise mercy at the expense
of His justice. God as the judge of all the earth
would not set aside the demands of His holy law.
Yet God shows mercy.

How?

Through One making full satisfaction
for His outraged law.

Through His own Son taking the place of all
who believe on Him and bearing their sins
on His body on the cross.

The just for the unjust.

A.W. Pink's book, The Seven Sayings of Christ
on the Cross is the basis for this series of the same name.
