A Christian Is a Servant of Christ

64

Jude is the last of the New Testament 'General Letters,' and like the others, it is named after its writer. Jude tell us that he is the brother of James. In the church at that time the only James whose name would have been instantly recognizable would have been James, the Lord's half-brother (Mark 6:3). He was the writer of James and a leader in the Jerusalem church. Although Jude was not an apostle, he had a close connection with the apostles. False teachers had infiltrated the church and were pushing their errors among God's people. Jude wrote to warn Christians about this danger and to challenge them to stand for the truth (3-4a).
