Risen Personally and Bodily

64

Most of Luke 24 is taken up with the events on that first Resurrection Sunday. This sermon focuses on two aspects of Christ's resurrection: First, he was raised personally. His personality and Jewish cultural mindset, for example, even his physical appearance, were the same. His relationship with significant people continued after the resurrection. Secondly, he was raised bodily. The body in which he had lived for 33 years was the same body in which he appeared to his disciples after his resurrection - yet it was glorified and transformed by resurrection power. So after he was resurrected, his disciples recognized him. He said, "II is I myself." So his human characteristics continued on after the resurrection, though in a glorified condition. The Incarnation was real and permanent. At his return, we, too, will see him and know him personally and bodily.
