Christ Or Man? Choose Wisely. And what does that have to do with the Ark?

297

Now, please understand... this is a Fundamentalist Southern Baptist pastor. He even sounds a little like Foghorn Leghorn. And thus, Kentucky Fried Chicken is the most essential subsistence his Most High Pastor Potentateness must rely upon (that and Diet Coke). So, the professionalism he exudes when walking into a KFC after Church and before the Super Bowl pregame starts, is information he is duty bound to instruct us on. I say, that's a joke, son. But anyway...

On with our pastor's list. This is Joshua 3:14 thru 4:24 diagrammed out. To see the list for yourself, I dutifully wrote it down in last week's sermon description, don't have space to rewrite it here. The theme of the Old Testament is Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself requires us to Search the Scriptures, they testify of Him. And this is a very complexed portrait of Jesus Christ. He is typified by the Ark of the Testimony. The Ark is to cross the Jordan River (on dry ground), with the River being backed up to Adam.

This passage is clearly a reference to Christ and His redemptive work. Our pastor explains this exceptionally well. Yes, he's not just good at chicken pickin'. He also talks about two belief systems, one of which is Christ centered and the other, man centered. Some of you won't like what he says here, but one, he's weird, and two, he just doesn't care much about offending people who want to see the Bible as anything they want, just as long as it gathers a crowd. And all this, just in the first 15 minutes.

Oh yes, there's much more (it's a big list, A through W), and I wish I could run you through everything he covers, but... It's time. Open your TextBook, get out your notepad and press play.
