Serving well

To be a part of Christ's body is to participate in Christ's life, to partake of his Spirit. That means we need to understand how we have been gifted for service. This is a matter of deliberate sovereignty, as God appoints to each one gifts and work. It is a matter of spiritual unity, as we labour together for the good of the church. It is a matter of splendid diversity, given the range and scope of the gifts and the work. And, it is a matter of genuine necessity, because we need one another if we are to glorify God. There are many obstacles to serving well, and many needs if we are to do so, but—Christ being the Head of his church—we can be well assured that he will enable and equip us.
