The Trial of Jesus: Power, Desire and the Inconvenience of Truth

We ought to see ourselves in the Sanhedrin: in the Pharisees, the Sadducees, and the experts in the law. We ought to shudder when we read of Pilate cheaply catering to the crowd's approval rather than embrace the costly path of devotion to the truth. This is us. All of it. We too are those called "sinners," into whose hands Jesus was given by God to be crucified. We do not know ourselves if we know not this.
