Five Things to Observe:

• Observation 1: Our Walk is Fueled by Lavish Grace - v.1a

• Application: "If true that our walk is fueled by lavish grace, this calls for pause on the part of every hearer of the Word preached today to consider whether they are truly a recipient of such Divine favor."

• Observation 2: Our Walk is Modeled by Faithful Saints - v.1b

• Application: "If true that this walk has been modeled by saints throughout the past, one should consider the value of such examples and both secure them and strive to be such for others."

• Observation 3: Our Walk is Measured by a Heavenly Calling - v.1c

• Application: "If true that our walk is measured by a heavenly standard, then we must be ever careful not to measure ourselves by ourselves, but rather seek the Lord to measure us as to our progress."

• Observation 4: Our Walk is Characterized by a True Spirituality - vv.2-3

• Application: "If true that the walk to which we have been called is a spiritual walk then we should be pleading with the Lord to provide all we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Christ and the provision of His Holy Spirit living in and through us in our walking together."

• Observation 5: Our Walk is Grounded in the Triune God - vv.4-6

• Application: "If true that this walk is grounded in the triune God then we should regularly seek a deeper knowledge of Him - that is, a deeper and personal knowledge His Divine being and works in the place he makes himself known to his people, primarily his means of grace of Word and Sacrament in the corporate gathered assembly. "
