Because obedience is not natural to our fallen, selfish wills, deference to authority needs to be ingrained early in the home as children are taught to obey their parents. Scripture singles out fathers to ensure that their children are spiritually trained and taught. But fathers need to realize they cannot properly pass on what they do not know themselves.
