But our scripture reading will
be now Isaiah 66. I'm going to start to read at
verse 15, read at the end of verse 24. Hear now these words
of God. For behold, the Lord will come
with fire and with his chariots like a whirlwind to render his
anger with fury and his rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire
and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh and the
slate of the Lord shall be many. They that sanctify themselves
and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the
midst, eating swine's flesh and the abomination in the mouth,
shall be consumed together, saith the Lord. For I know their works
and their thoughts. It shall come that I will gather
all nations in tongues and they shall come and see my glory.
And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape
of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pull, and Lud, that
draw the bow to Tubal and Javan, to the isles afar off that have
not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory, and they shall
declare my glory among the Gentiles. And they shall bring all your
brethren for an offering unto the Lord out of all nations upon
horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and
upon swift beasts to my holy mount in Jerusalem, saith the
Lord, as the children of Israel bring an offering and a clean
vessel into the house of the Lord. And I will also take of
them for priests and for Levites, saith the Lord. For as the new
heavens and the new earth which I will make, shall remain before
me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain.
And it shall come to pass that from one new moon to another,
and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship
before me, saith the Lord. And they shall go forth and look
upon the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against
me. For their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire
be quenched, and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh. God help us, even in the hearing
of His Word. You may be seated. Is it possible to measure the
awesome importance of the biblical and saving gospel of the Lord
Jesus Christ? I question if it is, for as I
bring the prophet Isaiah to a conclusion this morning, a prophet who I
believe has clearly shown the importance of the biblical and
saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ by so often revealing
and declaring things about the Lord Jesus in His person and
work. But as I bring this evangelical
prophet to a conclusion this morning, I would ask you a simple
question. How do you accurately measure
the importance of the biblical and saving gospel of the Lord
Jesus Christ. Now, if you were to base the
importance of the biblical and saving gospel of the Lord Jesus
Christ on this lost world's attitude and actions towards it, and this
world's actions and attitudes toward those who truly believe
it and confess it, you would come up with a woefully inaccurate
and false understanding of how awesomely important the Gospel
really is. And so I would exhort you, even
as I begin, do not let this dark and lost world squeeze you into
its soul-destroying mold as it looks upon the temporary things
of this life as all that really matters. and labors to get you
to think and live as though the everlasting gospel of the Lord
Jesus Christ is of little or of any real importance in this
world? No, rather than being misled
and deceived by this lost world that is walking around in darkness,
seek to saturate your mind with the reasons that the Scriptures
clearly show you as to the awesome importance of the Gospel of Christ. In fact, as I already mentioned
earlier this morning, I found it very interesting that the
truth of how important the biblical and saving gospel of Christ really
is, is seen in three different ways in the three messages that
I have prepared for today. One many of you have already
heard, one I am about to preach on, and the third I will, Lord
willing, lay before you this afternoon. Now in the message
I preached earlier, the importance of the biblical and saving gospel
of Christ is seen in the fact that it was the truth of His
person and His work that you see Peter preaching repeatedly
before his brethren in the opening chapters of Acts. And it is this
gospel message that is recorded as being preached throughout
the book of Acts in fulfillment of the command of Jesus to his
apostles in Acts 1.8. But ye shall receive power after
that the Holy Ghost has come upon you and ye shall be witnesses
unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and
under the uttermost parts of the earth. See here, if you want
evidence of how important the biblical gospel of Christ really
is, consider how it is the one message. It's the one message
that the Lord wants preached in this world until He returns. Now, another way the awesome
importance of the gospel is seen is in the letter of Paul to the
Galatians that I hope to begin this afternoon. For the reason
he wrote to the Galatian churches was because of their giving ear
to a perversion and a denial of the biblical and saving gospel
of Christ. Oh, how important! How important
must this gospel really be? when its perversion leads the
Holy Spirit to inspire Paul to write the letter to the Galatian
churches. But the third way that the importance
of the biblical and saving gospel of Jesus Christ can be seen,
or should be seen, is in the three last verses of Isaiah that
I want to focus your attention on this morning. The awesome changes, the awesome
changes that the everlasting gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ
will result in should show you how important it is for you to
personally believe it. For in the last three verses
of the book of Isaiah, you see the awesome importance of the
biblical gospel of Christ through what I would call the effects
of the everlasting gospel. The effects of the everlasting
gospel of Christ are first, everlasting life for true believers in the
gospel as described in verse 22. Second, the effects of the
everlasting gospel, the everlasting worship of the Lord God for true
believers in the gospel as described in verse 23. And then third,
the effects of the everlasting gospel, the sobering last verse
of the book of Isaiah, the everlasting abhorrence towards those who
have rebelled against the Lord and rejected their need of the
everlasting gospel is described in verse 24. Dear people, the effects of the everlasting
gospel of Christ do not just apply to this brief life as Moses
said, teach us to number our days that we might gain a heart
of wisdom. The effects of the everlasting
gospel do not just apply to this brief and temporary life, they
go on into eternity. How can anyone say that the the most important message in
the world today and throughout time in light of its eternal
and everlasting effects. that such a person is still dead
in trespasses and sins and is not being guided by the written
Word of God. For what is the first thing that
Isaiah concludes with in his gloriously evangelical book?
With respect to everlasting life for those who the Lord has graciously
and mercifully saved, as declared in verse 22. For as the new heavens
and the new earth which I will make shall remain before me,
saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain." Now
what right do I have to say that this verse refers to the everlasting
life that the Lord has obtained for those He died for on the
cross? I say this first because of the
little word, for, that begins the verse. For Isaiah is about
to declare the truth of eternal life for those he has already
referred to in the previous verses. But who are those that he has
referred to in the previous verses? They are the ones who have been
redeemed from their sins out of this lost and dying world
and brought effectually to the Lord in salvation so as to become
priests before the Lord as Isaiah uses truth that those under the
old covenant to illustrate the truth of everlasting life in
the presence of the Lord. For as the everlasting gospel
of Christ goes forth into all the world through the preaching
and witness of those the Lord has already saved out of this
lost world, as pictured in verse 19, what happens? Well, and I
will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape
of them unto the nations, The very same thing you see in Acts
1.8, to Tarshish, Poole, and Lood, that draw the boat of Tubal
and Javin to the isles afar off, to the isles afar off that have
not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory, and they shall
declare my glory among the Gentiles. See, Isaiah 66.19 pictures the
truth of Mark 16.15, and he said unto them, Go ye into all the
world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Then all those the Lord has decreed
to save through his saving gospel will come unto him in salvation
as pictured in Isaiah 66 20. And they shall bring all your
brethren for an offering unto the Lord out of all nations upon
horses and in chariots and in litters and upon mules and upon
swift beasts to my holy mount in Jerusalem saith the Lord. as the children of Israel bring
an offering and a clean vessel into the house of the Lord. And
those who the Lord has effectually called and saved will be enabled
to enter into the presence of the Lord and serve the Lord,
something only priests and Levites were able to do under the old
covenants. Isaiah 66.21, and I will also take of them for
priests and for Levites, saith the Lord. But based on what Peter
declares in 1 Peter 2.9, what is every true new covenant believer
in the Lord Jesus Christ? Whether believing Jew or believing
Gentile. But you are a chosen generation,
a royal priesthood. a holy nation, a peculiar people,
that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called
you out of darkness into His marvelous light." Every true
repentant believer in the Lord Jesus Christ is able to enter
into the presence of the Lord and serve Him because of what
the Lord Jesus Christ has done for all those for whom He died.
And this blessed and glorious ability to enter into the presence
of the Lord and serve Him, believer, will last forever. As Isaiah declares after that
little word, for, in verse 22. For notice how Isaiah declares
this glorious truth for true believers in verse 22. Don't ignore the little words
of the Bible. Because when they are used in
such a verse as verse 22 and so many others, they reveal awesome
gospel truth. For, as the new heavens and the
new earth which I will make shall remain before me, saith the Lord,
so..." See, there's another little word. For, so. He's saying here,
this is what's going to happen with the new heavens and the
new earth. Huh. Who cares about that? Then you
have the little word so. so shall your seed and your name
remain." Now, Isaiah has already described glorious truths about
the new heavens and the new earth in Isaiah 65, but here he uses
the truth of the new heavens and the new earth to declare
that the ability of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to enter
into the presence of the Lord and serve Him will last forever. For the Lord is not only going
to but they are also going to remain
before Him. For as the new heavens and the
new earth which I will make shall remain before Me, saith the Lord."
Now, if something is going to remain before the Lord, it has
to remain before Him forever, because the Lord is the everlasting
God. Psalm 90, verses 1 and 2, Lord,
Thou has been our dwelling place in all generations before the
mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou had formed the earth
and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God. And the truth that the new heavens
and the new earth that the Lord is going to make are going to
remain before Him, the everlasting God, is used by Isaiah here to
bless the soul of believers with the truth that their life before
the Lord will be everlasting life. For as the new heavens
and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me,
saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. Those the Lord died to save on
His cross have eternal life and will inherit eternal life in
the presence of the Lord forever when they physically die or the
Lord gloriously returns. Now who are the seed that Isaiah
is referring to? Those who are trusting in the
Lord alone to save them from their sins. The faithful remnant
under the old covenant and every true believer in Christ under
the new covenant. Galatians 3 verses 26 to 29. For ye are all but children of
God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been
baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew
nor Greek. There is neither bond nor free.
There is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ
Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then ye are Abraham's seed and
heirs according to the promise." And what is one of the promises?
That you will inherit the new heavens and the new earth where
you will everlastingly be in the presence of the Lord who
saved you. As the everlasting gospel of
Christ goes forth into this lost and dying world, those that the
Lord has ordained to save from all eternity are brought to repentance
and faith in the gospel through the preaching of the gospel and
the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit, and they have eternal
life in the presence of the everlasting Lord God. Oh, you are not seeing
the saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ correctly, and the
biblical and saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is not
being preached biblically and correctly unless the truth of
everlasting life in the presence of the Lord is declared because
of the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. love the world
that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3.36, He that believeth
on the Son hath everlasting life, and he that believeth not on
the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.
John 5.24, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My
word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life,
and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto
life. John 6.40, and this is the will of Him that sent Me,
that everyone which seeth the Son, and believes on Him, may
have everlasting life, and I will raise Him up at the last day.
John 6.47, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on
Me, And this is why Paul and Barnabas
are so concerned in Acts 13, 46. Then Paul and Barnabas wax
bold and said, it was necessary that the word of God should first
have been spoken to you, but seeing ye put it from you, and
judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life. Oh, we turn
to the Gentiles. They preach Christ to their Jewish
brethren, but they reject it. And he said, well, take this
everlasting message to the Gentiles. Oh, the utter folly and foolishness
of anyone who does not believe in the saving gospel of the Lord
Jesus Christ is seen by the fact that the life they are trying
to make sense of, the life that they are trying to hold on to,
the life that they are trying to make their mark in, is not going to last forever. What did we read there in Psalm
90? Moses' wisdom of the Lord? The days of our years are threescore
years and ten, and if by reason of strength they be fourscore
years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow, for it is soon
cut off and we fly away. Who knoweth the power of thine
anger, even according to thy fear? So is the wrath, so teach
us to number our days, that we may apply our heart to wisdom.
Where is an answer for this? The answer is found in the gospel
of Jesus Christ, where everlasting life is found in the person and
work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Yet how many live in this world
as though they think they're going to live here forever? 2 Peter 3, 7, But the heavens and
the earth which are now by the same water kept in store reserved
unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly
men. Oh, my dear people, the folly
of this attitude is compounded even further. And as I've said
before, I don't go looking for illustrations. But I just happened
to be in the North Andover Library yesterday with one of my clients.
While he was looking for something for himself, I always look in
the new book section. And I just happened to find a
book there entitled The Immortalists. I didn't know. Immortals? Well,
I'm talking about immortal, eternal life here. What's this about?
And it's a book written about a man, I think most of you know,
have heard of him. His name is Charles Lindbergh. The man who flew first nonstop
across the Atlantic Ocean. But it wasn't about his flight
across the Atlantic Ocean. is about this aviator's fame
who sought out the services of a doctor in a foolish attempt
to live forever in this world. But eternal life, my dear people,
is a gift of God through His gifts of repentance and faith
in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ on His cross. It is not and never will be an
achievement of medical or mad scientists. Men lived for hundreds of years
in the days of Noah until the flood of Noah that Noah warned
of swept them all into eternity. Men who labor to push the limits
of longevity in this life are engaged in a fool's quest. Because this eternal life that
a sinful man might know, this is eternal life. that a sinful man might know
the living and true Lord God because of the finished work
of Christ on His cross for His sinful people. Oh yes, every
true believer by the enabling grace and mercy of God should
labor to do all he does in this brief life to the glory of God. But you do it, believer, with
the realization that this present life is not all there is. There is everlasting life with
the Lord when you physically die or the Lord returns that
is never going to end. The things that are seen are
temporary, but the unseen things are eternal. Eternal life is
not something seen, it is something presently unseen. It is embraced
and confessed by faith. 2 Corinthians 5, verses 6-8,
Therefore we are always confident knowing that while we are at
home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by
faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and
willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with
the Lord. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I
have kept the faith. Verse 8, henceforth there is
laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous
Judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but
unto all men also that loved His appearing. What does Paul
say in 1 Corinthians 15, verses 19 and 20? If in this life only
we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable, or
most pitiable, But now is Christ risen from the dead and become
the first fruits of them that slept. Oh, if you have not cried out
to the Lord, Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner. May today be
the day of salvation for you, because until you embrace Christ
Jesus alone to save you through personal repentance and faith,
everlasting abhorrence is what you will have to look forward
to when you die or the Lord returns. And I ask you, who in their right
mind would want to look forward to such a thing? But that is
my third point this morning, because before I look on this
sobering biblical third truth, what is the second blessed effect
of the biblical and saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ? It
is the blessing and joy of everlasting worship for true believers in
the Lord Jesus Christ forever. Verse 23 of Isaiah 66, And it
shall come to pass that from one new moon to another, and
from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship
before me, saith the Lord. Now Isaiah, again, is using the
imagery of the worship under the Old Covenant to picture the
everlasting worship in the new heavens and the new earth that
will be lifted up to the Lord by all the redeemed of the Lord
in the New Jerusalem. And the justification for this
can be seen by what John declares in Revelation about the New Jerusalem. Revelation 21-25, And the gates
of it shall not be shut at all by day, for there shall be no
night there. The gates were closed in the
earthly Jerusalem as seen in Nehemiah because of the earthly
Sabbath. But every true believer enters
into their everlasting Sabbath. rest because of what the Lord
has obtained for them on His cross. Revelation 22.5, and there
shall be no night there. And they need no candle, neither
light of the sun, for the Lord giveth them light and they shall
reign forever and ever. I ask you, dear people, who can
even begin to comprehend what such worship will be like when
it is raised up to the Lord from all the redeemed, century of time. Revelation 7
verses 9 and 10, After this I beheld, and lo, a great multitude, which
no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and
tongues, stood before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed
with white robes and palms in their hands, and cried with a
loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sits upon the
throne and unto the Lamb. But, dear people, this worship
will not just include all the redeemed, from all time. It will also include all the
unfallen angels that never sinned against God and have come to
a better appreciation of the glory of God through His work
of redeeming sinful men. Revelation 7 verses 11 and 12,
and all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the
elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their
faces and worshipped God, saying, Amen, blessing and glory and
wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be unto our
God forever and ever. Amen. I ask you, I ask you, what
will the worship of the Lord sound like when the angels that
sang the praise birth of the Messiah combined their unfallen
voices with all the perfectly glorified, redeemed of the Lord
from all time in praising the God of our salvation. Now, the foolish unbeliever will
look upon the everlasting worship of the Lord with ridicule and
abhorrence because he does not enjoy the worship of the Lord
today. And they will ridicule and mock
this greatest of all blessings by saying, it would get boring
worshiping the Lord throughout eternity. But such ridicule and such mockery
reveals the depravity, and I say this with all honesty, the dumbness
of their dead hearts. And I can justify the truth of
this in three ways. First, who is it that the redeemed
are worshipping throughout eternity in the New Jerusalem? It is the
everlasting God in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge
in whom there is no searching of his understanding. How does
John Newton put it? When we've been there 10,000
years, bright shining as the sun, we've no less days to sing
God's praise than when we first began. And what does Paul declare
about those who love God? Because he first loved them.
1 Corinthians 2.9, but as it is written, I have not seen or
heard, neither have entered into the heart of men, things which
God hath prepared for them that love Him? If even fallen men who suppress
the truth of the glory and majesty that the Lord displays of Himself
in the heavens above are awed by what they are themselves discovering
about the heavens, I ask you, What is it going to be like in
the new heavens and the new earth to be in the immediate presence
of the Lord God who spoke this universe into existence and sustains
it by the same all-powerful word? But second, to show the folly
of such an attitude The folly of mockery and ridicule
of the everlasting worship of the Lord that will take place
in the new heavens and the new earth is done against the backdrop
of their idolatrous worship in this brief life. For what annoys unsaved men by the fact that they have to
physically die What is one of the things that annoys unsaved
men by the fact that they have to physically die? They have
to leave behind all the things they have worshipped and idolized
in this brief life. Death does not change their desire
for their idols. It simply removes them from them
and ushers them into the presence of the Lord God in whose very
presence they have been worshipping their idols in. To give you an example of what
I mean, how many unsaved people who mock the idea of the everlasting
worship of the Lord, How many unsaved people will have no problem
in camping outside a ticket office despite the inclement weather
and temperature to get a ticket or tickets for some upcoming
concerts or sports events and they will repeatedly do this
year after year after year until death prevents them from continuing. But what will they be doing in
all these events that they have no problem going through all
this discomfort for? They will hear the same songs
sung, or the same ball bounced, or the same ball hit, or the
same ball kicked. All the ones they are watching
may change, But the activity is the same activity year after
year after year. And these idolatrous dying men
dare to say that the everlasting worship of the everlasting God
of glory will be boring? Face your idolatry, men, and
repent! And don't add to your sorrow
in hell by dishonoring the glory of God with such ideas. The third way that I can illustrate
the utter depravity of such mockery and ridicule is turning you to
a verse in the book of Revelation where you have written what four
unfallen heavenly creatures are recorded as doing day and night. Now, an unfallen heavenly creature
has a better understanding of what is worthy to be done day
and night than any fallen man. And since these unfallen angelic
creatures are recorded as doing this without fail day or night,
then the worship of the Lord God throughout eternity in the
New Jerusalem will be on a level that no man on this fallen earth
can even begin to comprehend, and no enjoyment on this earth
can ever come close to. And the verse I'm referring to
is Revelation 4.8. And what does this verse record
about these angelic beasts doing without rest? And the four beasts
had each of them six wings about him, and they were full of eyes
within, and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy,
holy Lord God Almighty, which was and is and is to come." Oh,
how glorious must God be that these angelic and fallen beings
can cry out Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty without
rest day or night. And I am sure, dear people, if
you could walk up to any one of them and say, Are you bored? Are you bored? They would look
at you like you had lost your mind. Believer, Never let the mockery
of your heavenly hope and what the realization of that heavenly
hope means by a non-believer mar or hinder your wonder at
even now trying to comprehend what only death or the return
of the Lord will usher you into the everlasting comprehension
and enjoyment of. And I have no hesitation in saying
believer because it is only a true confessing believer in the Lord
Jesus Christ who will enter into this everlasting worship and
joy of the Lord. For the all flesh of verse 24 is a reference to all the redeemed
of the Lord. It is and it cannot be a reference
to all men. Excuse me, that should be verse
23. For the all flesh of verse 23, and it shall come to pass
that from one new moon to another and from one Sabbath to another
shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord. The
all flesh of verse 24 is a reference to all the redeemed of the Lord.
It is not and it cannot be a reference to all men. And it is very easy
to see this if you just read verse 24, because verse 24 tells
you another thing that the ALL of verse 23 will be doing. And the fact that the ALL of
verse 23 will be doing this means that anyone who teaches universal
salvation, universalism, or annihilationism will have the blood of souls
on their hands if their soul-destroying teaching is embraced, rather
than the one and only saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
For what is the third effect of the everlasting gospel of
the Lord Jesus Christ? It will be the everlasting abhorrence
on the part of the redeemed of the Lord towards those who have
rebelled against the Lord and rejected their need of the everlasting
gospel of Christ. Verse 24, shall go forth and
look upon the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against
me. For their worms shall not die,
neither shall their flame be quenched, and they shall be an
abhorring unto all flesh. And they shall go forth." Well,
who are the they of verse 24, dear people? They are the all
of verse 23. Those who will be everlastingly
worshiping the Lord. saints' enjoyment of the new
heavens and the new earth is not going to be hindered by their
abhorrence of all those who have rejected the Lord and the salvation
that He alone could have provided them with. Dear believer, in
this life, you are to be burdened for your lost and unsaved loved
ones. You are to be burdened for them.
As Paul is for his unsaved and unbelieving countrymen. Romans
9 verses 1-3, I say the truth in Christ, I lie not. My conscience
also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost that I have great
heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. For I could wish
that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen,
according to the flesh. You are to pray for them. as
Paul prayed for his unsaved brethren, with the hope that the Lord would
reach down and save them. Romans 10.1. Brethren, my heart's
desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be
saved. But when you, believer, or they,
enter eternity, all burden and all prayer comes to an end. their eternal destiny and your
eternal destiny is fixed forever. And when you see all unsaved
men, including all your unsaved loved ones from this brief life,
should they die in rebellion against the Lord and not believe
the Gospel of Christ, you will not be seeing them as you presently
know them in this life, or remember them from this life. For remember
what the Lord declares through Isaiah, back in Isaiah 65, 17,
For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former
shall not be remembered, nor come to mind. But what will you
see? You will see these unbelieving
and rebellious men in all their naked rebellion and hatred against
the One who is altogether lovely and who died to redeem and save
you from your sins. And notice what it is that will
fuel the eternal hell of those who are there, for their worm,
their worm, T-H-E-I-R, not T-H-E-R-E, It's not location, it's personal
possession. For their worm shall not die,
neither shall their fire be quenched. The lost impenitent in hell will
fuel their own hell and torment by their continuing to hate and
rebel against the Lord and rejected truth that He alone can satisfy
and save their souls. at the present time, what it
will be like to worship the Lord perfectly and everlastingly,
it is difficult for you to comprehend. What will it be like to abhor
those who will suffer eternally for being impenitent transgressors
against the Lord? For their worms shall not die,
neither shall their fire be quenched. But the reason You have difficulty
comprehending the everlasting worship of the Lord is because
you still have to fight against the world, the devil, and your
remaining sin in this life. But not then. Not then. That will all be behind you.
Everything that hinders your ability to worship the Lord and
the beauty of His holiness will be forever behind you. And the
reason you have difficulty comprehending your ability to do that which
the Lord declares through Isaiah will be done by all the redeemed
towards those in eternal hell is because in this life you are
to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you and
despitefully use you. But not then! Then you will see the Lord in
a way you presently do not, and you will see all those who have
rebelled against the Lord and reject His saving gospel in a
way that you presently do not. Oh, is the gospel not the most important
message? Look at the everlasting changes. that the everlasting gospel of
the Lord Jesus Christ will bring to pass eternal life for those
who trust in Him, the ability to eternally worship the Lord
God for those who trust in Him, eternal abhorrence for those
who rebel against God and do not believe the gospel. Oh, I pray that you know the blessing
of personally trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for your
salvation, the salvation of your never-dying soul, so that when
you pass from this temporary life, you will enter into the
everlasting joy of the Lord and not everlasting abhorrence because
you have rebelled against the Lord and rejected your need of
the everlasting gospel of salvation found in the Lord Jesus Christ
alone. all the changes that the gospel
of Christ are going to bring about. May you know the blessings
of the gospel this day. Let us pray.
